Well we decided to head west (through the hill country) for a few days. Too bad most of new mexico was on lock down for offroading while we were there. It was a fun time and I got my first rock chip on the windshield. We drove the first day to abilene then to ruidoso then to santa fe where we met a guy in a bar that convinced us to go to a vineyard in albuquerque for a blues band then a 15 hour drive back through west texas. I think i killed 15 tons of bugs, remember to bring extra wiper fluid on that trip next time.

My FJ in Rotan Texas

After the hill country this is quite common

and in western new mexico this was common

Hiking at the three river pertroglyphs

Then some play time at white sands

Sunset at white sands

The most expensive part of our trip

hiking at tent rocks

i like the sunset pic what are those big cone things?
They are rock formations that have eroded to look that way. Some have cap rocks on top that look like they are balanced there.

White sands was the bomb! I'm glad to hear that y'all have a great trip west, when I was out there I was sure glad to have a 6 disc changer that was mP3 capable! :jester:

I only have about 155 from mine but I drove solo 1,600 miles in a little over two days from Vegas back to Houston. I stopped in White Sands as you've seen from above but I also went to Meteor Crater and drove several miles of Route 66...

Great pics! Looks like you had fun. I usually enjoy NM. I got to go through there a few weeks back.
It is getting hard to keep up with getting rid of dead bug collections so you can start another.
Looks like a blast, thanks for sharing. Great arms length photos; a staple of any good trip ;)

Too funny, but seriously, I've seen the way MIGZ looks at you, especially at that last happy hour.

Welcome back, now lets go grab some cold ones!
