To give everybody some perspective, this is what the view looks like from the bottom of Hell's Gate:

Jim
That's a great pic from the bottom and really shows the incline. Few people seem to take pics from the bottom and top pics just don't show it as well.

probably because trucks don't roll UPHILL when it all goes wrong.
Yeah. That might have something to do with it . . . but photos from the top often show vehicles down at the bottom waiting to go up.

Hey Jim,
Thanks again for the good spotting! :bigthumb:
After we got back home, Ann says she is doing "The Gate" next year...

A couple more that I forgot about. These are pictures of a Jeep Cherokee that was with us on Hell's Revenge one time. The very young driver paid zero attention to spotter input (I know because I was the spotter) and wound up in this predicament. He refused to budge and wanted to be winched up from here. Good perspective on what it looks like to be stuck on Hell's Gate.

Thanks but I didn't have anything to do with them; well, other than selecting the ones I liked. :) Most of 'em were taken by none other than good old Arizona folks that were along on a couple of trips.

Regardless, whoever took the pics did a great job.

If the guy in the Chero-car wasn't with your group, I'll bet to this day he blames you.

Doubtless, since most 18 year-olds don't make mistakes. :) The funny thing was everybody who had a winch in our group was behind him waiting to come up. Somebody then said there was a Jeep group about to go down the descent of Hell's Gate so I told them to go ask if one of them could come over and winch the Cherokee up. He came back and said their response was that they would if it was a Jeep. I said great because coincidently it just happened to be a Jeep. :) :)
