So I finally got a chance to take the FJ out for its first off-road adventure yesterday. Had a blast climbing some decent rocky mountain sides and crawling through some sand. However, I did have a rough run in with one dirt mound in particular and came down on the skid pretty hard.
Now the left side of the skid plate has been pushed back about an inch and is making contact with my left front tire at full lock. I tried pulling it back into place, but to no avail.
I then tried bending that side of the skid up to avoid contact with the tire by placing the jack underneath it, cranking it up, and leaving it for about 30 min. As I am sure you guessed that did not work either...otherwise I would not be here typing this now .
Has anyone experienced anything like this? I did not expect the skid to come out of position so easily. Is their a way that I can easily move it back into place? Is their a good method for bending the stock skid? I've only had the FJC for a week so of course this is driving me crazy! Thanks for the help .
