Since I'm shortly going to be taking delivery of a Lucrum LLS 2.0 light system for my FJ, I am now continuing my research into HID lights.

In particular, I am looking for the following:

  • WIDE (not pencel or driving) beam (i.e., wider than 30 degrees or so?)
  • Very good quality lenses (no random reflections wasting light)
  • Great weather sealing
  • 6" diameter or smaller (to fit the LLS)

I am, I must admit, less intrested in how cheap they are, and more interested in how excellent they are.

I am open to suggestions (including adjustments to my list above), but would REALLY appreciate any thoughtful / experienced answers.

I would also love to buy from a forum member's business, if at all possible.

Thanks,
spincycle / chris

All the lights I am think of are to big. :(
the KC lites 6" flood has all the features you want. KC HiLites Auxiliary Lighting Products
Up until my current motorcycle, I have replaced the weak lighting (sportbike bane) with HID lighting systems from Xenonrider.com. They also sell auto kits but you'll have to drop a line for applications. Customer friendly and quality product but be advised the lights are so bright the road may catch fire.

Those are ne of the main ones I've been looking at. Four of these side-by-side on a Lucrum mount would be awesome.

I just don't want to buy two sets and then have trouble returning them if they don't fit the Lucrum LLS....
Do your research before you do any of the "conversion" though. Some reflectors are not designed to work with HIDs. Sav, not saying your link isn't good stuff. Just stating that one needs to be knowledgeable before doing conversions.

The HIDs come lights only or a full kit get the full kit shouldn't be any issues, KC has a good return policy. example====v

KC Gave me some stuff free to be a guinea pig.
KC lites gave me the bars and light for free to use my truck a few hours. For a Cover shot

they let me keep what they gave me but after driving with chrome i hated it, called KC and asked if I can switch to all black, id pay the shipping, they said don't worry well ship it to u, at out cost and u dont even need to send the silver one back.

Then they only sent the bar, so I called back and they overnight black lights a shirt and lots ofsteeeeeeeekorzz

Wow my rig looks a dad bit different

Excellent info, all of you. Thanks. (wish I could still rep...)

I'm leaning towards the black, shock mounted, 6" KC HIDs, and am waiting for an email from them about the actual beam spread ange for the floods vs. other proectors of theirs.

Can't wit!
Im in the process of converting 4 hid projectors into AUX off road lights. Total cost for everything will be about $500 bucks... Ill let you know how it goes.

From my experience with my HID retrofit into my headlights I can say these things are BRIGHT.
I'd go with the KC 6" HID lights. :D
Hey Chris, I'll be doing the exact same thing you are soon too! LLS 2.0. I've bought 4 hella 500 driving lights and I'm going to be using some HID conversion kits offered at various vendors on Ebay.

I'm looking forward to this system! :bigthumb:

Frogeye,

I'm leaning - this hour, anyway - towards a set of two KC HID floods (for the sides) and another set of KC standard 'driving pattern' HIDs to mount in the center. Similar to Todd's setup, even though he says he would go all Floods if he were doing it over.

Cheap? No. But it's hard to beat a great reputation, responsve tech support (I've already emailed them), and a long history of making great stuff.

By the way...I still have a set of the HUGE Warn lights that I have no room to mount anywhere. Anyone want to talk about acquiring 'em, PM me.

Frogeye,
I am looking forward to seeing how you like your modded Hellas! We'll have to do a night run in Ouray to do some comparisons!

Night run for sure. Let's go up on Engineer's and wave in the UFOs. :bigthumb:
