I can confirm both 2011 and 2012 autos both have tranny coolers built into the radiator. I'd speculate that the 2013s have them also but there are quite a few other under hood changes so I couldn't be 100% sure without seeing one.
Number 6473836 way to check temp, drive around for 15 min and then open the overfill plug. This should go without saying but make sure the vehicle is level when you pull the level check plug.
There are 4 ways that I know of to determine the ATF temp :
-) High Level (professional) Scan Tool
-) ScanGauge (2 options : torque convertor temp or valve body output temp)
-) Instrument Panel light after connecting 2 pins on OBDII connector (the light blinks when you are within a certain atf temp range)
-) Shooting the pan with an IR temp gun (less accurate than the above 3 but works just fine).

No Leaks no problem that's why there is no dip stick atf does not evaporateUmmm ya, there is no way in hell I'm doing that. I don't even know where the overflow plug is, and I don't want to dump some fluid and have to refill it, etc.... I'm not a freaking mechanic...
Why didn't Toyota just put a damn dip stick on these things so normal drivers can keep an eye on their tranny fluid? This is the stupidest thing I have ever seen....
Sorry to vent.

I learned something today! Not a dumb question. It is a seald transmission with no dip stick. Below is a link to "I drained my trans", which I did this past December.
The "I accidentally drained my transmission fluid...
Read the entire thread and you'll learn that it is NOT a 'sealed' transmission, it's entirely conventional except that the dipstick has been replaced with a level-check standpipe in the transmission pan.I learned something today!![]()
