I bought mine with 91K on it and it looks brand new. If it wasn't for the odometer, you'd never know it had that many miles. I had a 4Runner before that and it didn't look nearly as nice at similar mileage.
Guess you did not treat your prior 4Runner as well as the prior owner of your FJ did. Probably a lesson there as it is not a 4Runner issue. We are on our 3rd 4Runner and they all have aged gracefully as they were properly maintained.

Absolutely not an 4Runner issue. I had my 4Runner for almost 15 years and it was a beast. The only issue I ever had with it was when a service station failed to tighten the lug nuts and the wheel almost came off when I was driving up 95N at 80 mpg. They later told me that they didn't realize their "compressor was broken". Almost cost me my life. After this, it never drove right. I had it balanced numerous times after this at several different service centers and we could never fix the issue. But this had zero to do with the vehicle. Like I said, it was a beast. Cosmetically, it took a hit when we added an addition on our house. Lots of wear and tear. But overall, it was a great car. Couldn't ask for anything more.

Hello,
So, I need an opinion. I found a 2007 FJ Cruiser that seems to be in good condition, but it has 202K miles on it. Should I take a chance ?
200k is just getting broken in, as long as it was regularly maintained by the PO(s). I've put 177k on my 2007 and I'd expect to get another 200k at least.. Still to this day, the only major issue I've ever had with mine was blowing the rear diff which was a known issue for the early years, and that was after 7 or 8 years of moderate to heavy off-roading. Try to get the service history on it, you can usually find all that through the Toyota owners site if it was serviced through any of the dealerships. If you like it and everything works, go for it! 200k is nothin.

We have just over 100K on our 2007. Lots of off-road.

Replaced a torn CV boot several years ago. I just replaced the shocks and struts (OME). Nearly all of the ball joint and tie rod seals are torn, but no play in the joints. Usual brakes, battery, fluid changes.

Did get rear-ended a few years ago - $4Kish to repair. Late last year, insurance paid for $5500 of wiring damage due to pack rats. Nothing seems compromised from the repairs.

I replaced a camshaft position sensor today. I guess that is our first real failure. $50 for the part.

My 2007 has 207,000 miles on it, I expect to keep it to see it roll over 300,000. I have no trepidation about my vehicle having this many miles. Runs great, and I would take it anywhere. Look over the vehicle very well, get as much documentation as you can such as service records, etc. If it was properly cared for, and the price is right, expect it to last many more miles.

So I just bought a 2008 fj with 93,000 miles. Realistically, how long before I start having to replace stuff? What's the most miles you've heard of on an fj?
Love, love, LOVE all the posts about how great FJ's are at around 100k miles when the question was how far beyond 93k they might last! Did you find everyone's hopes and dreams for the future of their vehicles useful? How many miles did yours wind up lasting in the end?

Original 2007 with 86,000 miles on it. I have had absolutely no unexpected issues. I have maintained it well. Changed the oil regularly and changed fluids. The paint has gotten a bit faded in a couple of spots, mainly due to Arizona sun and Washington moss on the roof. I now wax the heck out of it with paste wax. I pressure wash the underside on a regular basis to clean off any road salt and on a yearly basis I crawl underneath and spray coat the underside with one form of undercoating or another. Even two big dogs inside throughout its life have done no lasting damage.

I have had two body issues due to outside influences; someone hit me with a ball bearing, likely from a slingshot and a F150 slow backed into me in a parking lot. Due to inaccessibility by body tools I fixed both small dents with bondo.

So the FJ in general, if properly maintained, will last a long, long time. Just watch out for rust underneath. Don’t let it get away from you.

I bought my 09 two years ago with 170k. Other than regular maintenance there hasn't been any problems.
I had a light show that pointed to the cam sensor,a shot of Sea Foam and the lights went out.
Sitting at 181k now.

I beg to differ with you on your 2007 comment, at least for me and many other 2007 owners. I have just rolled to 100,000 on mine and have not had one single issue. Aside from the standard maintenance, it runs like a champ. Any other vehicle with 100,000 would be subject to squeaks, rattles, rumbles, breaks, etc. but not a lot of 2007 FJ's.

I was talking to a friend this weekend and I was telling him that by maintaining and treating it like a 100,000 vehicle, I should be able to at least double that.

Hey, the way I look at it is that 100,000 is just the FJ break-in period
I traded my 2007 in with 167,000 had no problems besides routine maintenance. Traded it for a 2013 Trails Team

I drove over 250,000 on my 2007 without any problems. Normal driving and regular maintenances allowed many on and off road adventures. I sold it and bought a one owner 2008 with very low mileage. I anticipate and plan to put another 200,000 miles on it as well.

If it had decent maintenance done and good quality fluids used then mileage is no issue. My 2008 company FJ was doing 1200 miles a week + since leaving the dealership in 2008 when I turned it over to another driver in 2011 it had 192000 miles on it and as of last month has over 800,000 miles on it.

2010 4WD 242,000 miles and counting. 10 years in Michigan some off road and 2 years in Florida. I’ve replaced the brakes twice, struts and shocks once, one ball joint, new rack and pinion, on my 4th windshield and just bought my 4th set of tires. Drove it across the country twice and still sounds and feels like it did when I bought in in 2011 with 17k miles on it.

I just bought my first fj last weekend 3-11-2023 with 220,903 miles. I took it straight to Toyota and had them do a multipoint inspection. There were no service records for the vehicle in the Toyota system. However, I bought it in rural West Virginia and there was no Toyota dealer for about 75 miles. That being the case, they suggested I replace ALL fluids (front and rear differential, transfer case, transmission, brake, power steering, radiator) drive belt, spark plugs (were original), fuel induction service, EFI fuel service, new lifetime battery, 4-wheel alignment, adjusted emergency brake, replaced rear wiper, replaced the clock, tires were low on air. I didn't expect that... 😱
But the oil had recently been changed with synthetic! (y)

In case you are wondering, the Bill (capital "B") was (drum roll)................(wait for it).................... $2,790.00.

But, they were very gracious and offered 24-month 0% financing. 😬
The frame and body are in excellent shape with very little rust. I'm hoping to get to at least 300,000 miles. 🤞

Diligent maintenance is key, if it's been treated well before you as long as you do recommended maintenance and repair small problems before the become big problems you should be driving it well into the high 200 thousand or above. Treat it well and it will do the same.
