How much room in fj.....?

Is there enough room for someone who is 6 ft to fit in the back when the seat in front is also adjusted for a 6 footer?

:clap:Will they fit? Yes, Comfortably? No. But 6 footers are used to that anyway,. Though I would recommend to seat both in the front or trade for a new friend.:rofl:

If you want back seat comfort check out the Tundra crew cab!!

IT's huge!!!! Plus, the back seats recline some. Very comfortable and an all around BA truck. My 2 cents.

Agreed. I am 6' and my son is 6'-1". It works better for him when he is the only one back there. However, I bought mine for off-road use, camping, and fishing, with the back seats either down or taken out. I sat in back as part of a test drive before I bought the FJ, and It seemed to have enough room to get by. :cheers:

Yes it is possible, but not very comfortable. If you want comfort and something that can off road you're better off with a Land Cruiser.

I'm not saying the FJ isn't comfortable, but it's just not comfortable a 6 footer in the back.:bigthumb:

For long trips, it's not just the comfort. The person in the back doesn't have nearly as much field of view as the driver and passenger. You are "sort of" looking out of a cave. For short drives, it's fine.

I am stuck between a decision... the fj or tundra. The tundra will have all the room I need... but more expensive and a little thirstier. The fj would be one cool ride... less expensive and better gas mileage. My dilemna is that I like to saltwater fish and sometimes bring 3 people with me. These people aren't feather weights. The typical trip is 2 hours one way. My boat is no more than 4500 pound loaded down. So, I am thinking the fj will do the job. What do you'll think? It is my vehicle! Should I care about the rear seat comfort? They will suck it up... they want to go fishing pretty bad.

My hubby is 6'. Our son is 6' 2". We can do short trips but the FJ is not the "family" long haul vehicle. I believe for 2 hours or less, it would be fine for us. We would not want to drive it 12 hours straight though.

How often will you be towing your boat? Fully loaded at 4,500 lbs, it's weighing in at 90% of the FJ's rated towing capacity. If you're towing it often, with buddies, the Tundra might make more sense all the way around. Less strain on your vehicle and your buds, but more strain on your wallet...decisions, decisions... :)

I am 6'. When I adjust the driver's seat to my preferred driving position, I can open the doors, climb out of the driver's seat and into the back seat without making any adjustments. Once in the back seat, my knees do not hit the front seat back and I have plenty of head room. I find the seat to be reasonably comfortable.

Although I am 6', I do drive with the seatback fairly upright and not terribly far back. I do not like to reach for controls nor do I like the low and reclined driving position favored by many of my students. Depending on how you prefer your front seat position, your mileage may vary.

They will suck it up for the fishing trip for sure. Just rotate who gets to sit up front. I agree about the view back there..... Not much to see. The towing issue may be the deciding factor. Depends on how often you drag that boat around.

Not really, I'm 6'8" and when I drive anyone in the back seat is cramped. They usually sit on the passenger side. I got the FJ because I fit in it. I test drove a Hummer H3, Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Commander, and a bunch of other 4x4 SUVs. I sold my Land Rover Disco II for the FJ. I am so glad I got the FJ, it is fun, unique, awesome off-road, and its a Toyota.

i have had 6'2" men in back for going to lunch at work.....not really concerned as to their comfort as they can drive themselves if they dont like it. I also did not buy my vehicle for its rear seat comfort....and it is not a problem with smaller children that do not have a choice. I bought mine for daily driver, hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, wheeling......for me (i get driver seat) for wife (she gets passenger seat)....if my 19 yo daughter wants to join us that is fine but not concerned with her comfort since she drives herself everywhere...and only rides in my FJ maybe once every month at most.

I always look at my priorities.....and not many teenage boys or grown men of that size are going to be in back all the time...usually they will be in front seat beside you and someone smaller will go to back....size wins. Plus, unless they are paying half the payment.....I just dont care too much about comfort for them back there...hahahahaha.

I bought it for me... and a front passenger 99% of time....not for rear passengers other than dogs. I am happy.....I got my seat! :D

this should hopefully clear this up for you... Im 6'1" 200lbs driver- my brother 6' 240lbs passenger...back seat The Big Paul 6'4" 350lbs sitting behind me- other buddy 6' 280lbs behind my bro- and the punk 5'6" 140lbs between the two in back. all with plenty of room and no complaints, hence me driving everywhere.

Keep a cooler in the back with some cold ones and your buddies in the back seat will never gripe.............Tell them it's easier to reach the cooler from the back seat and you will have problems finding someone to ride shotgun! :jester:

let them suck it up......All the days driving around in the Tundra by yourself will make you regret that purchase....I mean c'mon.....Your seat will be very comfortable!!!!!!
