I've noticed this is most obvious in 2nd gear.

I'll accelerate and shift around 3K RPM.

I will take my foot off the gas, push in the clutch and watch as the engine seems to rev itself up 300 - 400 RPM higher or so.

Is this normal and a result of drive by wire in the FJ? I can't come up with any other reason why the RPMs would go up with my foot off the gas and the clutch pushed in.

Does everyone else see this or is something wrong with my new FJ?

I don't really see the same "rev" - perhaps 100 RPM at most - when I shift out of 1st or other gears; when I do this in second I can hear the rev.

I have read on other forums that this is done on purpose in order to prolong the life of the catalytic converter.
