Hey all,

Well the time has come to find my project a new home. I'm putting this ad up with the complete understanding of my asking price. This vehicle won't be for everyone and I want it to go to an individual that will continue to take care of it and use it to its full potential. I'm not interested in parting out anything as I don't need to sell and I don't need the money. I built this rig with the intent of keeping it for many years to come; however, I work for the DOD and that is adding a kink to the plan. Basically, I spend a lot of time "away" and every day I'm away, I'm worrying about my rig and if it's staying safe. (basically like having a kid). I started this project back in 2012 and once I got the bug, I sat down with a white board and started to list everything I could want to mod. I've been making my way thru this list and am about to reach its completion. The end result is one that turns heads everywhere it goes and performs like none other. It's got so many "extra" features that I am hard pressed to list them all. I've kept every receipt for purchases, labor, and maintenance in relation to this vehicle and I only let the highest qualified individuals work on it.

So...for sale is my 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser. Around 116k miles. Asking $75,000. This ad is very unspecific but if you do have interest (and the bankroll to support your interest. Sorry, just don't have a lot of extra time to answer questions unrelated to the sale) than I am more than happy to answer any/all questions/provide more photos/supporting documents. I probably forgot to list things so if you see them in the photos, than they are most likely included.

As far as the weapons, airhorns, etc, I will sell the vehicle as is. That means if you are legally allowed to own them, than they are included in the sale. It's up to you to determine legality and then we will do an FFL transfer, etc.

Thanks for looking. Asking $75,000

I forgot a lot of stuff but this list should be good enough to create interest. As stated above, if you would like to learn more, let me know. Some of the photos included have been over the build progression. So if you see items added on in another photo, than expect them to be included in the sale.

I am open to offers in the ballpark of my asking. *Brand New Windshield

Thanks

Thanks! Just take your time. Put your ideas on a spreadsheet and take them one by one as funds become available. Ebay and Youtube are your friends (as is this forum). You will save a lot of money by learning how to do the install yourself.

Can you add what everything cost beside each piece ... Also what KBB is for just the FJ? Just curious what it adds up to.

Don't sell your toys ever SIR, (I) 25yrs active duty and deployed to 72 countries (5 1/2 yrs deployed to the ****). I retired from duty in 2007 and I miss it every day. The camaraderie I get when over landing and off-roading with mutually passionate folks (and my dear wife) is the only thing close to what service does, that I have found. The mod bug doesn't stop, so much more you can do.
1. Rear lower cont arm
2. Front upper cont arm
3. Power inverter
4. All kinds of more ****!!!!!!!!!
This is obliviously your hobby and does not equate to the price asked. You will miss it badly. KEEP IT AND SERVE YOUR CAREER WELL.
GOOD LUCK and God bless!!!!!

Wow! Simply...wow. I'm in the market for an FJ right now and I wish I could afford this. But it's about 3x out of my range :( FJ's have been my goal for years and I'm now capable of affording one, but sadly not this one... Great job on this project. It's blowing my mind right now. I'm going to post this comment and go stare at the pics for a while more.

With 116K miles, he'd have a hard time getting ~$18K for just the truck. AutoTrader shows almost 200 FJ's under $20K / 100K miles in the US, and that's before you start haggling.

The last thoroughly built truck like this to sell was @Old Cruiser's, and it took 3 months and went for $30K. It was also a 2010 with ~53K miles, the main difference is that it wasn't supercharged where this one is.

No bank is going to do a loan on this truck for that price, and $75K cash is about $25-30K cash more than you'd need to replicate the essentials of this build on a nearly new 2013/2014 truck.

Good luck with the sale, but your price is unrealistic. Project cars never sell for anything near what you have into them.

What Jimmy Buffet said, I hate to burst a bubble too. People never get out of it what they put into it, cardinal rule. You would honestly cash out better to remove/replace to stock and sell every mod separately, to get the most $$ back out of it. The enthusiast often learns the cost of his hobby when he decides to switch what hobby he/she prefers. Nice truck and I ain't knocking on it, just trying to help face reality here.

That's what I was getting at. My truck is done up as much as this one, looks better and is a 2011 with 43k miles ... I only wanted 36k for it.

I just wanted to see the parts listed because it's def not 55k worth, maybe 35k.

Superchargers are cheap. My suspension alone was over 12 grand at the least. I also had a Lefty and redid all the skid plates. Custom PRP seats and tube bumper, etc. It had all the electronics with 5-6k worth of stereo/ CB / batterys not to mention lights. It was the only FJ running 35" Pitbull rockers and those were on KoH certified TR beadlocks.

Even with its low mileage, superb condition, fully documented history (now around 260+ K hits on the build thread)....

It sold for what a factory stripped 2010 FJ with nothing on it. Btw- it sold with at least 8k in spares.

Jimmy-Buffett- it was less than 30k...

Just giving you a realistic expectations. I realize the demand may have gone up since I sold mine in Jan/ Feb, but I don't think that much. The more you customize your rig, the smaller the group of folks willing to buy it becomes. Regardless of price.

Hmmm I think everyone may be missing what seems obvious to me, it's his dream and it sounds like he's not able to enjoy it like he wants. Maybe this is his insane number just to say "hey if it sells for this price then it was meant to go". Trust me I've done similar things with bikes and vehicles I've built that I never intended to race because they were too beautiful to look at but I felt guilty for just having them sitting around.

I'm most likely over analyzing, but that's just my feeling.
:wink

That's the last asking price I saw on the thread, so I figured it was close. Colin got a hell of a deal on it, with all the work you had into it.

The FJ market is no different than any other car modding scene, it's always cheaper to buy somebody else's finished project for pennies on the dollar than to do a project yourself. But then you're also buying their choices on the project, and $75K cash buys a lot of different choices on a practically new truck.

The amount of work he has into this vehicle is obvious, and that's always what leads to these kinds of asking prices. But doing the math on the big items -- truck, supercharger, regear, axle and lockers, lift, bumpers, armor etc -- this is a $30K truck after an aggressive part-out of everything that isn't firmly bolted on. As a potential buyer I'm not looking at this as one of many highly modified trucks to potentially buy, because there aren't many. I'm looking at what this truck has done to it that I'd do on a new truck. A plane ticket and $35K buys any one of 220 2013+ FJ's in the US under 30K miles, cutting the mileage to 15K still shows 52 trucks.

The most notable thing about this truck is the regear + supercharger on 33's. At sea level I bet this thing is a monster to drive on the street, probably one of the fastest FJ's 0-60 in the country. And given the high miles (116K) and body-mounted NFAB step bars instead of rock sliders, I'm wondering if that was the point.

IT'S a tank!
A very nice tank but none the less a tank. Great mods If that's the direction. Like you all have said it still does not support the asking price.
I wonder what the curb weight is?

Thank you Sir for your suggestion. The brotherhood experienced during military service is unlike any other and I'm wary of the day that I'll need to step away from it. God Bless
