Just spent some money

So after 1.5 years of owning the FJ I finally bought some stuff for it. I ended buying the Metal Tech bumper and winch plate, (they threw in the bash plate), I also bought some of those Trail Gear rock sliders, as well as a set of 4 PIAA lights.

I also designed a rack basket and it's being welded as we speak, that will allow me to camp in the basket to stay off the group and out of the mud. I designed a canopy out of XCR Gore-Tex and I'm fininshing taping the seams tonight!

This weekend were adding a custom "gear" box for the back of the truck that will hold all our dutch ovens and climbing gear.

We are also removing the rear door hinges and I had some custom ones created that will allow us to quickly remove the rear door, (2 cotter pins), when off-roading, as our friends like to stand in the back and hang on to the roof rack.

The snorkel and 3" lift will be next month with the ddition of Pro Comp 7089 wheels and BFG MT's 33"

It feels good to finally spend some money!!!! Now if Metal Tech would only finish the rear bumper I'd be set.

Has anyone meesed around with those portable solar panels for camping to run lights and a laptop on those extended off-roading trips?

Congrats on the mods. Enjoy them all.

CruiserLarry rolls with solar panels. You can PM him questions.

Do you have a link to your video work? Your username ignites my curiosity.
Sounds like you hit the ground running, congrats. Make sure that you pick up a tree saver and a couple shackles to go along with that winch when you get it.
Nice selection of mods, what took ya so long? lol welcome to the other side, the evil expensive but really fun side.
Congrats on the new gear, sounds cool! We need pics!

You guys sound pretty wild and crazy! :freak5:
Picks will be coming soon. The big stuff will be in next week, along with my roof basket.
The lift will happen next month. Question on the lift..??? the decision is back and forth on 3" or 6", are those with the 3" happy or are those with the 6" wishing they would have picked the 3", lol

How much more will the lift cut my (mpg), and do I need to "re-gear" the truck with 3" lift?

www.adventurefilms.net, it's all "hobby", I have some good wildlife videos as well as the photos page
im happy with my 3 inch ome really dont loose mileage on the lift its when you put bigger tires on thats when it goes down. There are a couple people with 6 inch that have been having some relability issues but the 3 inch pretty much keeps it normal.

You want performance? Go with the 6" lift or stay home with the small fries! Your milege will drop with the rubber but think of where you can travel too!!
Now that you've opened the flood gate...start saving up! The mods will come fast and furious.
i've used the Brunton solar panels on camping trips before, though I don't own any myself. They are pretty cool.
I see you're in Houston. Be sure to come out on June 6th(?) for the meet.

I have a 3" lift. Toytec adjustables in front and Toytec customs in the rear w/ bilstein shocks. I haven't wheeled it yet, so no comment there. Honestly, I think the 6" is a little overkill. All in my opinion of course.

I want to see this bumper in person. Could we get together sometime and make that happen?

Interested in selling your stock tires and wheels?
My snorkel has been sitting in the garage for about 3 months. Maybe I will put it on tomorrow.

That ain't no lie!
Congrats on getting yourself some mods!! How about some pics of your mods put on the FJ!!:bigthumb:
I just finished the utility box in the back. I am planning on building 2 more drawers in order to have them pre stocked for different events, (camping, tools, camping, off-roading, etc.) I will post some pics tonight of the box.

I expect the sliders, and front bumper this Thursday, the rack goes into weldment on Friday and I have the lift and wheels planned for mid June, with tires planned first of July.
