I want to haul gas and some mining supplies. I have seen one with a clamshell lid but I think it was a motorcycle trailer.

Not much response to your question, I'll take a shot.

Not sure about Albuquerque, but in Denver there are several dealers/fabricators of nicely made, beefy utility trailers. Trailer Source is one (no affiliation): https://www.trailersourceinc.com/http://

There's another dealer just 1/2 a mile away from Trailer Source, so if you make the drive to Denver you can price shop a bit.

Looking at the trailer I’m not seeing any leaf springs. Could be a little bouncy

I'm modifying a 1954 Ford pickup bed/frame into a usable trailer. It's got leaf springs and was free. Although, there will be a substantial investment of elbow grease by the time I'm done with it.
