Bought my 2010 fj recently with 16K miles. Lady driven, in town mostly. Still has original plugs. I have put 5K miles on it, so I now have 21K and it runs great. I know milage wise the plugs should be good for a good while yet, but should the time and city driving for 9 years have any detrimental effect on them? Runs great, fuel milage 15 to 19 mpg, but could new plugs make it better?

My 07`s manual says change every 30K. You are probly fine. I average changing mine every 2 to 3 years. Hope that helps :)

'10+ FJs have platinum or iridium plugs and in owners manual I believe recommended change intervals are 100k+ miles, so I wouldnt do it now. If you need the peace of mind, pull one of the easier to get to spark plugs and take a look. If your engine is running well, you can safely assume the rest of the plugs probably look similar.

The only benefit I can see to pulling the plugs now is that when you put them back you can antisieze the threads.
