I have heard of a few guys buying the M101 series trailers from the gov liquidation sites and wondering if the trailers are worth it? I'm at Ft. Polk and have seen 8-10 of them for sale here and some are rusted. How much work do they need?
You difinately have to have some fabrication skills. But rust can be busted and dents hammered out. The size, shape, and axle setup of the M101 lend it well to being the base for a decent offroad trailor. I may need to take a trek to your neck of the woods to see about one of the ones for sale...
