So I was going down the highway yesturday (60mph) and passed an oncoming tractor and trailer. I heard a loud bang come from the top of my FJ so I pulled over and checked to see what had happened... the molding or trim piece that runs across the top of the windshield was blown off and now layed twisted and scratched on the highway. Has this happened to anyone else?

If you or the dealer recently replaced the windshield, when they remove the trim piece the clips usually brake. When having the windshield replaced, it's a good idea to replace the clips on all the trim pieces. You may also want to check the panels by the bottom of the windshield on each outside edge near the fender.

That happened to me on my way home from the dealership as soon as I bought it. I found out that they had the windshield replaced shortly before I bought it, and as stated above, broke the clips while driving down the highway.

The dealer did replace it with a brand new piece thank goodness.
