**THREAD TITLE CLARIFICATION, I'm referencing the Cooper STT PROs not the older STTs**

What kind of MPG hit can I expect moving from 285/75-16 Nitto Terra Grapplers that weigh 53lbs to Cooper STT PRO(61lbs) or Cooper Maxx (64lbs)? Has anyone moved from Terra Grapplers to either of these two tires? If so, what decrease in MPG did you see? For reference I am currently averaging 14.5 (2008, manual, 3"lift, aluminum DO bumper, Baja mesh rack). Thanks!

I get 17.3 on Nitto Trail Grapplers 285/70/17's Roughly 80lbs each

US Offroad bumper, toytec boss lift & whistling light bar.

Too much going on at work today, I just realized the title references the STTs when I meant to STT PROS. That said, my first choice are the Maxx but the 11lb weight difference has created some concern. What tires were you running before getting the Cooper Maxx?

Love those tires! I would kill to get 17.3. The Grapplers in 285/75-16s are 70lbs. What were you running before and did you see a decrease in MPG moving to the Grapplers?

11 lbs shouldn't make that big difference between those three tires. If you are worried about MPG why even go up in size?

For what it's worth, my 285/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers gave me about 17.5 MPG on the highway depending on how I was driving. My city driving is about 13.8 MPG average.

I am not moving up in size only the weight of the tire. The new tires will be the same as I have now, 285/75-16. Based on the current feedback it sounds like weight may not play a large role in reducing mpg.

I run several due to my work but the last set on the FJ were BFG KOs. The Terra's look to be less aggressive, less rolling resistance = better MPG. The PROS are more aggressive yet but I can't say enough good about the toughness of the Coopers. The MAXXs are a hybrid of sorts w/ more of a MT/ open pattern on the outer lugs and an AT pattern in the middle. The PROS are pretty much a designated MT tire. I'm currently running Cooper AT3 on one work truck and the ST MAXX on the other 2 along with the FJ. The MAXX will surprise you with its road manners and quietness on the road and they are tough off-road. I've beat mine pretty hard with no issues so far. I can't see you going wrong with whatever you choose. All of your choices are good ones. It will just come down to your intended use.

I have Terra Grappler 2's 285/70/17 and I get around 17 mpg. Everything is stock, except it's leveled with 5100's and sliders.

I was running the stock tires that came with my new FJ. I went up one size.
Yeah I dropped a little bit, but not much. It was after I started adding armor that It dropped more.
