My modified SCUBA mod

I just finished the Full Scuba mod. I approached it the same as SHADOW WARRIOR & 007FJ, but made a few changes.

I moved both the rear diff. & elocker breathers through the grommet in the jack storage area rather than running them up to the engine compartment. I did this because if you ever tried breathing through a long tube versus a short tube it is easier through the shorter one as there is less over all restriction. I extended both breathers, rather than tying them together, with 1/8" & 1/4" fuel line. They terminate just behind the trap door leading to the taillights. I did not cut the elocker rubber tube. Instead I removed it and slid the 1/8" fuel line tubing over the plastic factory tubing coming from the elocker, It is a very tight fit.

The Auto trans & transfer case were done just as 007FJ describes it, but Instead of assembling the heavy brass 1/8" coupler on the transfer case tube I found an 1/8" plastic coupler at Auto Barn which was a very tight fit. The auto tranny coupler I used was 1/4" brass. I rerouted both of these tubes onto the inner fender on the drivers side and fabbed up a small bracket to hold them.

The bracket has holes in it for each breather barb to pass through and then the extended rubber tubing slips on from the bottom of the bracket holding them tight. I also moved the front diff. & FWD actuator breathers up to that bracket as well because the new location is several inches higher than they were.

I reused all the factory breathers at the extension ends (except the rear diff. which is threaded, not barbed. I will order a front diff breather which is 5/16" and force it into the 1/4" tube). I did this to help avoid possible warranty problems if I do suck water. I will argue that all I did was extend the tubing and kept everything else factory.

Now all I need is a really deep puddle!!

Great concept and very clean install!! :bigthumb: :bigthumb:

BTW, is that a circuit breaker under the yellow plastic cover on your inner fender apron??
That is a really clean install. Good call on keeping the factory breathers

Yes, It's a 30amp breaker that powers a Painless Performance 7 circuit fuse block. 4 circuits on ign. 3 circuits constant.
The "Sun Fusion" rubber cover is from a piece of equipment I install @ work, A device that carries a 3 wheeled scooter or power wheelchair on your
vehicle. I am in the mobility business.

Looks like a great install! Next time the Long Islanders get together, I'm going to have to take a closer look at how you did this. :) I've been procrastinating about doing this for too long.

Same here. I've had the Camry union for at least 2 monthes!! Finally got motivated to just do it.

We should try to get the LI crowd out soon. Mabye post a thread now and set a date two weeks away, or so, to give everyone a chance to work out the days.
