Looking for a antenna for a CB I just purchased. I like the whip antennas that you can disconnect when not in use. I have a 4th gen 4Runner. Any ideas where to mount? I wan thinking on the roof rack. Point me in the right direction fellas. And how long of an antenna is needed? You always see people with a huge one, is that needed or just preferred for looks?

Ya a few people use that one, I can get a 24" "whip" style on ebay for like ten bucks, are those not good antennas? And i understand nothing about tuning lol, this is my first cb

Make sure you are not confusing an am/fm radio antenna with a CB antenna. Most CB whip antennas are much longer than 24 inches. Stick antennas seem to be more popular amungst the FJ guys and the most popular mount is the Bandi Mount. Obviously this mount won't work with your 4Rnr. Maybe there is somthing like this available:

In all honesty, though, you may have better luck with an answer to your question at a forum a bit more geared toward your vehicle like toyota-4runner.org, or even yotatech.com. Not that there isn't somebody with the answer here, just saying that your chances are better for THIS issue.

I was thinking maybe you should send a PM to DucHunter (Chris) to see what he did. Chris has a beautifully built gen4, but I cannot remember how he did his antenna. But I'm sure what ever he did was clean and well done.
