Okay so I broke in my new 3rd member from ECGS this weekend and I’m hearing whirring noise on load(acceleration) at 60mph on up. Sounds like mud tires but I’ve got normal ATs. It’s very slight but you can still hear it. ECGS said don’t worry about it unless the sound changes. Any opinions on the noise or what it could be?

Change the oil and see if it gives you any hints

Did that after 500 miles and still same noise. ECGS said don’t worry unless it changes and that some aftermarket diffs just make noise on load or not at certain speeds. Tht just does t sound right to me but I’m not a diff specialist so I can’t really tell

Does it whine louder when you DECELERATE at highway speed, especially going downhill? That’s a sign of improper alignment of gears and I’ve experienced it, replaced gear sets. The ECGS warranty is awesome and if yours does have a problem they’ll replace it. If you’re really worried you can have a knowledgeable mechanic pull it and test the gears.

Some gears(especially lower gears 4,88-5.29 etc) can have a whine at certain speeds.
OE gears are better in this regard but they aren’t available this low.
If set up is not 100% on ( and sometimes it can’t be)gears can whine but usually in a specific resonance/speed relation.

Continue to monitor and change oil again in 1000miles or so to observe oil condition.

If oil is clean, drive on .

IMPO, if you can hear the whine with aggressive tire tread it is too much and setup may be too far out.

This company has a reputation of looking after their customers, if things aren’t right. Keep them in the loop.

No only acceleration no noise on deceleration. And I can only hear it when I go 60mph and up.

Myself and multiple of my friends had similar noise during new gear break in period. Seems like normal behavior.
I don't hear it anymore but might be just me got used to it. I was pretty nervous about the noise but after assured by ECGS and heard my friends had similar experience. I never paid attention to it again. So i didn't remember when the noise stopped being noticeable.

What oil are you using. Dino/syn/viscosity?

Mine is brand new from Toyota and it had a slight whine above 60 which went away after I drained it and filled it with 85-140W Dino. Stock gears, 8.2 e-locker.
