New Exhaust...Dual Stacks

........on the FJ.

Decided to go a little different route with the new exhaust pipes. I mangled mine pretty bad and they needed replacing so I'm trying something a little fun this time.

These pics were taken at the shop this morning. Not the best pics, but they'll do. The project is not complete. It is all still bare steel right now. All pipes will be painted black tonight. I'll throw those pics up tonight if I get it all painted before dark. If not they'll go up in the morning. I think it will be badass once finished. My bumper was already a mess. I just removed the other bumperette to make room for the second pipe. The bottom lip of the bumper is also twisted but nothing I can do about that.

On the rack, previous pipes removed.

In these two you can see the disconnect options for when offroading. One disconnect for the entire piece is located right after the muffler. I also have the option of removing the two pipes closer to the rear of the truck. The braces are easiler removed with the pipes.

There will be a flapper for each pipe. The flappers look cool as all get out when you gas it. We did some work on those to eliminate all the usual chatter.

I will get some much better pics once the painting is done. Looks kinda crappy right now but I think it'll be pretty sweet when finished. The folks at the shop said it looks extremely aggressive now.

I know it's not for everyone, but feel free to voice your opinions either way. Just remember it's not finished yet.

Holy hell Tina you mack truck driver:D
Sound clip please. :rocker:
Dang, I'm still at work. You guys are relentless.

It sounds pretty much the same as I didn't change the muffler just the rear pipes. And it is closer to ear level now. It's sufficiently loud with the flowmaster and cai. Nice rumble, no bumble bee crap.
Do you really want an opinion??? Ya sure??? Kinda slow in the shop and had some extra exhaust pipes laying around??? Been smoking some funny green weeds???? alot of it?
No disrespect meant and to each his own, but here goes:
1. you will lose low end torque with a dual exh.
2. your plastic corner covers will melt.
3. your going to get burned when you try to use your rear door.
4. please tell me this is a joke!!!
5. when it rains...... well, I think that is obvious.
6. In parking lots, these automatically become trash bins/cigarette butt receptacles
7. if water gets in there, it ain't coming out and could possibly get to the cylinders.
8. If you want stacks, go with 5" chrome

seriously, if you like it, go for it.
Be warned, you WILL get laughed at or idolized depending on the neighborhood you drive through.
I applaud the effort.......ok tell us this is a joke.

Aaaahhhh, OMG, I can't believe you really did it! Ha! It looks cool, I can't wait to see what it looks like after you've painted them. You'll have to take some video so we can hear it and see the flappers flapping. You are the ultimate ******* Girl now, Tina!

Well, it is kinda for schits and giggles. Something had to be done with the exhaust til I get a new bumper. It will then be flush mounted straight out thru the bumper.

1. It's not true dual exhaust
2. They shouldn't melt with the clearance but we have a plan for that. And I'm considering replacing those along with the new bumper anyway.
3. It'll only happen once.
4. No joke
5. That is what flappers are for.
6. Again, flappers. Plus disconnects for clearing debris.
7. Flappers
8. I have chrome on the Camaro

I don't care so much what folks think, as long as it makes me giggle. So laugh, and I'll laugh with ya. Check back once the painted pics are up.

Looks kinda like those VW bug exhuast pipes sticking out the back like a stinger.
There you go a nick name for the truck "STINGER". Too bad you don't have a Sun Fusion with a black top. You'd look like a bee.
But who cares what we think its your truck and if it makes you enjoy it that much more go for it.
You. Are. God.

:rocker:

Tuneable moto/car mufflers

all you are missing is the big chrome bulldog hood ornament ......10-4 driver.
Yup, what he said. I like this style:

I am Lost for words VDM. You are way too cool....The only thing I would be worried about is Following James and Stan On the trail.. What will the dparture angle on the corners do to the pipes?Just an observation..
Ah, that is the beauty of the disconnects. Before a trail run, a screwdriver, a wrench, and they're off in like 3 minutes. Then I just have downward facing hidden pipes for the run. No more banging the tailpipe. Then I just slap'em back on.
That looks BAD @SS!!!!:rocker::rocker: I think this should be part of uphill"s "FJ a ******* vehicle" thread!!:cheers:

They look pretty cool, but I really love my flowmaster.

It will be once I get the painted pics up. The paint is dry but I can't find the dang cord for uploading pics at home. ugh

It looks sweet all black.
