If I may expand on this subject, I'm about ready to do my FJ's first oil change. Does Toyota use a synthetic blend oil? I'd like to put the same kind of oil in it without getting ripped off by buying Toyota's brand.
Suggestions please.

I have been using Royal Purple 5w30, which is synthetic and have been pleased with their products. I use a K&N oil filter too. Just my choice :bandit:
I've been reading everyones oil preferences and I've been getting dizzy. Seems synthetics are the way to go. Is it true that synthetic oils last longer? I've read up to 20,000 miles. If so the warranty says 5000 miles or six months so wouldn't you still be obligated to change the oil before it's necessary?
I want to do what's best for my FJ and want to conform with the requirements of the warranty at the same time.I'm thinking I'll do the Royal Purple 5w30 and the K&N oil filter and plan on doing the Royal Purple gear oil in the rear diff soonish.
Thanks for the help!!!!

I stick to the 5000 routine regardless of how long some say synthetics last. When you go to do the rear diff make sure you look at the forum for suggestions. It's an easy task and the forum pro's give great info. I also added Purple Ice, another Royal Purple product, to my coolant and my rig runs cooler even with the A/C blasting in the Texas heat. I plan on having this baby for a while so I'm going to make sure I take good care of her. Hey while your under your ride take a look at the universal joints. Might be a good time to zap some grease in the fittings too. Have fun! :bandit:
Will do, again many thanks.
