I just wanted to get everyones opinion on this, this is not to change our monthly FJ meet and Greet.
There is a 4x4 club here in OKC, call the TrailChasers. Their monthly meeting is next Tuesday, 2-15-11.
Oklahoma Trailchasers Four Wheel Drive Club; 4x4 Club
I was a member of the group for 2 years and they are a great bunch, but because of my schedule I was only able run with them once. I personally like to run with a group of experience drivers because of my lack trail time, but I was a bit afraid to go out of town with this group. Quite a few people in the club have dedicated trail rigs and trailer them to events, this is not the case for me and FJ.
Their dedicated rigs were mostly a bunch of extreme rigs, 40" tires or bigger. I'm thinking if we able to bring a few FJ into the club I think they would start running more beginner (entry level) trails so that we could get some experience. This would also help to get more entry level drivers into the club. It's really tough to get someone interested in taking their new 4x4 off road when the only other vehicles they see are huge custom built rigs. This is why I was always more willing to go to FJ events because I know if the rig in front of me can make it, so can I.
Does anyone else thing It would be a good idea to bring some FJs down to meet with the Trail Chasers to at least see what is going on?
You do not have to join the club unless you attend more that 2 runs. And you can attend the meeting as guest, just to check things out.
If you do think this is a good idea, we can meet for dinner before the meeting at 6pm. The meeting is at 7, they like you to be finished eating before the meeting starts. The meeting is held at:
Nino's Mexican Restuarant
7220 S. Western Ave.
Oklahoma City

Again, I think we still need to keep a dedicated FJ meet and greet, but I think the Trail Chasers can help provide us with a organized way to get us on trails.
Thanks,
