Ok so the wifey and I are ready to meet up again soon...I know everyone is coming from all over the place so...Where is the best place to meet for everyone? Is the MWC loaction good? Norman? somewhere off I-240?? Hooters? LOL!

Lets get some ideas going on where and when the next one will be!! We also really need to figure out a weekend when we can all take a short road trip somewhere to hit some trails. Any Suggestions on that??

Looking fwd to the fun!!!

I'm coming from Edmond and I know there are a few more from up here. I am fine with anywhere in the OKC area though.

Chuck lives in Newcastle, and I was just happy to not have to drive to Dallas to meet some other FJ owners. Y'all say the work and we're there!

I just wanted to get everyones opinion on this, this is not to change our monthly FJ meet and Greet.

There is a 4x4 club here in OKC, call the TrailChasers. Their monthly meeting is next Tuesday, 2-15-11. Oklahoma Trailchasers Four Wheel Drive Club; 4x4 Club

I was a member of the group for 2 years and they are a great bunch, but because of my schedule I was only able run with them once. I personally like to run with a group of experience drivers because of my lack trail time, but I was a bit afraid to go out of town with this group. Quite a few people in the club have dedicated trail rigs and trailer them to events, this is not the case for me and FJ.

Their dedicated rigs were mostly a bunch of extreme rigs, 40" tires or bigger. I'm thinking if we able to bring a few FJ into the club I think they would start running more beginner (entry level) trails so that we could get some experience. This would also help to get more entry level drivers into the club. It's really tough to get someone interested in taking their new 4x4 off road when the only other vehicles they see are huge custom built rigs. This is why I was always more willing to go to FJ events because I know if the rig in front of me can make it, so can I.

Does anyone else thing It would be a good idea to bring some FJs down to meet with the Trail Chasers to at least see what is going on?

You do not have to join the club unless you attend more that 2 runs. And you can attend the meeting as guest, just to check things out.

If you do think this is a good idea, we can meet for dinner before the meeting at 6pm. The meeting is at 7, they like you to be finished eating before the meeting starts. The meeting is held at:
Nino's Mexican Restuarant
7220 S. Western Ave.
Oklahoma City
Meeting Map -- Oklahoma Trailchasers

Again, I think we still need to keep a dedicated FJ meet and greet, but I think the Trail Chasers can help provide us with a organized way to get us on trails.

Thanks,
-Chuck

I can meet just about any where in the city, but I think the I-240 / I-35 area might be more central for everyone. I know there is a Texas Road house at crossroads mall, but I'm not sure that is the best place to meet. They don't really have a way to setup for a big group.

Can you think of anyplace that can setup a table for 10 to 20 people?

There are also a few new places in Moore along I-35 near the Warren Theater that may work. Ever been to Louie's?

What would a fella have to do to get into a meeting? I live east of Stillwater, Ok.
Cowboy,

To get into the meeting you just need to show up. How far is it from Stillwater to OKC for you (Google says around an hour)? KC is driving up from Pauls Valley, and I think that its also about an hour.

Maybe we can move the meetings around month to month to make it easier for the people traveling further. If we make it in Edmond one month, then the following month maybe we can move it Norman. The Riverwind Casino has a nice buffet..

Everyone..
If we are going to make this a monthly event, do we want to pick the same day each month? Like the 3rd Saturday? I'd say the same as last month, but that was the 5th Saturday in January ( I didn't even know we had 5 Saturdays last month).

I don't really care where we go. I'm 3.5 miles north of downtown OKC, Cody J. is west OKC off NW Expressway.

I'm hiking part of the Ouachita next weekend but other than that I should be good.

I think if we kept it more scheduled, like the 3rd Sat or everymonth or whatever, itd be easy for more to make it. Im down to meet anywhere.

Hooters is always nice, but Louies has a damn good BBQ pizza, o ya!

Then again, im down for wherever. As long as there is beer and food, im in!

Chuck I think this is a pretty good idea...another thought is that if they are dedicated to pretty "hardcore" trails, what would be the harm in setting up our own trail team. When I owned a Mini Cooper, I belonged to the OK Mini club and we had some stickers and shirts and hats made up etc...just an idea.
I think an OK FJ club would be pretty sweet!

As Far as a monthly meeting goes, I definitely agree to move it around to make it easy on everyone. I will continue to do some looking around at places that would have no problem accommodating us. And the 3rd weekend of the month sound like a pretty solid plan.

I like the Oklahoma FJ club idea. We could call it OK_FJ or something like that.

BTW does anyone have a SWR meter that they might bring to the next meet?. I just added a CB and would rather borrow one than buy.

So are we going to try for next Saturday night 19th (3rd Saturday)?

Maybe this time we can hit Louie's in Moore by the Warren Theater. 6:30pm?

Any other suggestions? I'm open to other ideas, but I wanted to pick something to start from.
