DD has a Halo kit that I want to try :blueblob:

https://www.diodedynamics.com/hd-led-halos-for-2007-2014-toyota-fj-cruiser-pair.html

But, I have to open the headlights to do it.

Anyone have experience opening FJ headlights?

I think @Prius2FJ has done it, and I PMed him about it, but I thought it might be worth putting up the Bat Signal on this one.

I found stuff on youtube of course, but it seems there's two types:

1) Butyl adhesive that can be softened with heat

2) Permaseal that may have to be cut

So, the big question is, what adhesive is used on FJ lights?

Anyone, anyone...?

Bueller?... Bueller?... Bueller?... :wink

If you've never opened the headlights before it could seem a bit daunting but its not terribly difficult. I read this thread thoroughly before tackling my retrofit. https://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forums/lighting/127587-official-hid-retrofit-thread.html The OP says you can re-use the OEM butyl rubber. I bought a complete retrofit kit and new rubber from theretrofitsource. Butyl rubber is like tar and will get everywhere so use gloves. I recommend buying a set of replacement headlights from Amazon to do the work on. Here are some videos that should give you a visual on what to do:

Opening headlights - note** use a lower temperature and do 5 minutes just to be safe. I melted my first headlight.

Resealing

How to retrofit..he actually uses an FJ headlight in the demo.

Not an instructional video but pretty cool retrofit
