I have considered buying after market wheels ever since I got my FJ but have yet to find any that I really like better than the stock OEM ones I currently have. I have considered painting or platidiping the center caps only. I am experimenting with the one on my spare just to get some ideas. What do you guys think?

Sorry for the sideways pic. Tried fixing it but no joy, original file is correct but goes sideways once uploaded.

Nah, not into Plasti dipping entire wheels. I would just buy actual black wheels at that point.
I'm with you on not doing the entire wheel. Looks good the way it is. When I had stockers I did debate painting or deleting center caps and possibly kind of shadowing the inside of the holes and the depressed part of the wheel. if that makes any sense. I never did so I don't know how it would look?

Have a look here. This guy painted those 8 hole fj wheels black and is running a black TRD center cap. I think they look great.

Those are sharp. If I were to go all black I would probably go the powder coat route. I have done the paint and plasti thing in the past and neither have held up well like a actual powder coat. I might consider getting those center caps for mine. I love the factory 8 hole wheel, it is my favorite. That is the reason I couldnt decide to go with any aftermarket.

yeah, probably makes sense to go with a powdercoat. Not sure how pricey that gets. The 8 hole wheels have really grown on me over the years and they look very good in a dark grey/charcoal or black.

Did this a while back, got the same wheels as you and I would say it looks better with my black fj

Yeah, when that happens to pics of mine I haven't found a reliable way to fix them. I've tried rotating them before uploading and even removing the EXIF data.

Back on topic, I like the black center caps. On your silver rig I think keeping the wheels silver is what I'd do, but until I saw black wheels on it I wouldn't know for sure. :) Maybe someone could p'shop the wheels black in the photo for comparison.
