My old-old ride:

My old ride (traded in towards my current ride):

Now, as promised: I give you, "The Escape Pod."

As it looked from the dealer:

I couldn't put a flat tire on the rear mount, so, after some short but intense negotiations with the dealer, the BBSs got replaced with good old Mk01 mod0 steelies for no charge:

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand then we went to the 4WD shop:

Getting the Fab Fours bumper installed. There's something like ~18 bolts holding this frakker on! Also note the Smittybuilt 8000 winch with synthetic line(!).

ARB rear bumper:

Now, WTF do I do with the holes meant for the non-existent back-up sensors?

3" Pro Comp lift & 285/70 R17 BFGs:

The "finished" product:

Still to do:
- Mount HiLift, Shovel & Axe on Garvin OEM rack mounts
- Dehorn the aluminum step plate on the ARB & rattlecan it - or spray-on bedliner - this thing's a footshredder otherwise
- Trailer hitch (ARB - on order) with wiring
- Rear Storage mod
- Rifle rack for my duty gun
- Rattlecan the washer reservoir - or relocate it, if it's going to be a problem
- Line-x. Lots of Line-x. Yeah...

This is by far the coolest set of wheels I've ever owned!!!

OOOOOHH HO-HO-HO IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII LIKE IT!!!!!!!

I'm VERY open to suggestions for further mods / add-ons.

(eddutted cuz ah kent szpell.)

How is the fab fours bumper? That is what I am thinking I want but I heard it is one heavy SOB! Any problems with the tranny being a little sluggish? Did you do 33" on it? If so, sluggish?

No, not sluggish - it's only ~175lbs added. The FF bumper is a Frakking tank. I know I'll be driving away from crashes that would total a stock FJ. I like the lines of the design, too. I'm very happy with it.

The tires are 285/70 R17s, so, pretty much 33/11.50s in size - NO RUB at all.

Looks great, nice job getting rid of the bling wheels. As for the wife, sorry it's never done.

Since this is technically part of the build...

Getting hit at night, broke down on the side of the road sucks, so...

I'll add some cheap stuff to keep me visible. This is the same stuff stuck to the sides of tractor trailers:

~$12.00 at Advance Auto Parts (Barcode included for all you smartphone junkies with reader apps).

Left side doors

Right side

Top roofline

Bumper corners

Good idea. Did the same on the F350 for that very reason, but had the propensity to break down, a lot. A whole lot, actually.

Rig's looking good
