BTW- is there anyone else here from the Atlanta area? It seems everyone is from the west coast, which really makes life difficult when you want to do some buying/trading.

I'm guessing from the few posts I've read here I'll be "looked down upon", but I thought I'd post and say hello anyway. I'm one of those people who bought my FJ (1 week old today!) simply on looks and because I'm a Toyota whore. This is the third Toyota in a row I've purchased, in fact my wife is still driving her 2006 RAV4.
I picked up the Voodoo blue 4X2 with nearly no upgrades other than the convenience package and rear diff lock, but I plan on adding the roof rack and alloy wheels (to start, I'm sure more will come later).
I don't plan on going off-road, in fact the gas mileage will probably cause me to survive on ramen noodles and spam since I have a daily 75 mile commute, but I just had to have it.
So have at it, make fun of me, kick mud on my windshield. Just don't scratch my voodoo blue paint.

Nah.. I think you'll find all kinds here and it seems that most are daily drivers as well. Some are active off-roaders, some are formers off-roaders that still play a little and some have/will never been off road. I'm in the category of "former off-roader that takes 5000 mile roadtrips to drive on a simple dirt trail".. No intense rocks, water crossings, mud or days in the wilderness.. More like B&B off-roading.. LOL.. Welcome.. Ron

Welcome. I never go off road. Our main reason for buying was to avoid shoveling our driveway up north.

The hike part might be difficult since we have an 8-month old, and I think the rocks and dirt would scratch up his knees, but I'd definitely be interested in future events.
I already absolutely do. Every car purchase I've made in the past has been for practical reasons. This one I just really wanted, if for nothing else than to run over Prius owners.Welcome John. You're gonna love the truck. :wave:
Ya-know.. These days my favorite thing to do is just drive on dirt/gravel/easy trails. Go out and drive on the lake bottom when around ET or head to the south west for a little sand driving. It's just good easy fun. Sandy and I do B&B roadtrips and then take daytrips to see a little dirt/sand. One could probably do all the we do in a pickup truck, but we had Jeep Rubicons and now the FJ. I like to be prepared.. LOL.. Ron
PS: If you're not familiar with Cades Cove, check it out on the web. There's no off-roading there, just a beautiful cove with a little paved road loop, a gravel road and neat paved one-way road through the mountains (often closed), a visitor center and a couple of churches. It's a family spot where folks just picnic and look at the beauty. The kid will have a great time..

Welcome aboard John!!! If you look at my sig line, I have a 4x2 as well. Nothing stopping you from modding it however you want to. The rear diff lock is nice to get you out of "sticky" situations but the rig is pretty capable all on it's own!

welcome. for whatever reason you bought your vehicle, it is yours. there are plenty of people that buy them and dont get them dirty. me included. mine is all stock suspension wise. i bought it for going to the snow, camping, and i did some desert exploring when i lived in arizona. welcome to the club.
