They look good, are built well, but IMO are not good for off road use. They mount to the body shell, not the frame,so they lack the strength a true slider will have to reduce impact damage. also the steps hang down, reducing clearance - every bit counts on the trail....
exactly what cruiserlarry said! i ended up getting a pair of predator bars to temporarily replace my expedition one sliders so that my pregnant wife can get into and out of the FJ. i can't wait until that baby comes out!

The factory rock rails are very well built, and mount to the frame, but they don't extend out far enough from the body to protect in more severe trail situations (the vehicle slides off the rail and rebounds right back into the body). Regarding cost - if you hit the trails, the money you spend on good sliders will be worth every penny, and a lot cheaper than the body work you'll need without them...:thinkerg::)

I use the Demello Hybrid sliders. I have beat the living crap out of them on the trail, and they don't budge - so while the bottoms of the sliders are no longer a beautiful round shape, I have no body damage above them.
thanks larry , i was just on demellos web site, they are looking pretty good, i think the demellos regular sliders though
I need to get something like the predators for my wife, I'd love to get in on that for $230. Most places that I've seen are charging more. Could you drop me a PM with the info? I don't do anything more exciting than some mountain roads and crossing shallow steams so I don't need sliders or tons of clearance.

X2 I love the style and look of the Predator! I would like to sell mine to buy the hybid Demello's if they ever drop their prices! Maybe the Trail Gear sliders will do the same. All I know is that I better sell mine before I destroy them!!!
