Hello, all- New member and first time poster here.

I found a 2011 FJ with 70k mi right down the road from me and think I'm going to go check it out.

Any advice on what to do or look for during the test drive? I have never owned a 4x4 but have been reading up the last couple days. Would it be good to find a dirt road to test 4H, 4L, A-Trac, and RR Locker? Any advice on this would be super helpful.

Also, are there any noted issues with '11 FJ automatics? I found a random Facebook thread of people talking about tranny shuddering/failure and jerking due to driveshaft failure but this seems to be mainly with the 07s? I plan to take to a very thorough mechanic to have an inspection done as well.

Thanks in advance and I hope to be a member of the FJ owners club soon!

Bringing it to a mechanic is a good idea. Toyota dealer would be better. They could run diagnostics from the OBD . Also climb underneath and snoop for rust.
Google Jimmybuffets guide to buying an FJ on here. Amazing info.

The Rear driveshaft was under TSB for free replacement due to binding issue.

Safest vehicle on the road and great resale value.

Good Hunting!
