Supercharger is on my radar. Got to send Tim some pictures from under the hood to see if we can shoehorn one in with everything I have going on. I will get some pictures but it will be a week or so, I’m at the beach currently with the Family and we drove the sequoia down.Cory, Nice. Post pictures. There are some gains with the right exhaust. My exhaust guy wants to do a Stage 2. Stage 1 is a good muffler / CAT back. Stage 2 is a stepped exhaust with a Y muffler. Stage 3 is what you did. Unless your supercharging you have probably gone as far as you can without killing your low RPM torque. I'm in CA so real headers that meet CARB probably won't happen.
I've grown to like the K&N tube & filter. Not significantly noisier but it does get rid of some of the hesitation and seems to breathe easier.amaclach,
I want to hear your input regarding the PT and K&N tube. K&N really straightened the plumbing to create something that worked with their filter in our stock airbox. IMO opinion the stock air box is pretty good.
Updated Raptor Testing:
1. I loaded the AFT with the K&N tube installed. I really like this combo. It's giving me a great torque curve on 91 octane PON gas (Pump Octane Number). Really smooth and power ramps up from 2500 RPM.
2. When I reloaded the PT with the K&N tube I still get insane torque above 3000 RPM. This is race mode.
3. If I drop back to the stock air box and resonator with the PT loaded I get lots of torque down at 2000 RPM and the curve stays fairly flat up to 5000 RPM.
4. If I run the AFT with the stock air box and resonator it's peppy but not even close to configurations 1, 2, or 3. They offer performance respectively in smooth ramping torque, maximum peaky torque, and torque staring at a low RPM which feels flat.
Mine too! I ended up repairing mine with parts from a marine engine shop. They helped me cobble all the pieces together. They swagged a piece of metal brake line into the coupler, put a bolt inside, and using a press with a mandrel to expand the part inside the plastic coupler. I followed it with blue loctite.I've grown to like the K&N tube & filter. Not significantly noisier but it does get rid of some of the hesitation and seems to breathe easier.
I've only driven about 1/2 a tank with it so far but still think that it's let down by the super sh1tty breather assembly. That needs to have molded pipes, and the fuel breather bit snapped off mine...
G'Day spTim has already responded and having the tune tech look int it. Like I said...Exceptional customer service. I'll keep you posted.
AWESOME...Hey Baz. Yes! Typical great customer service from Tim and Raptor.
After a few emails back-and-forth with PG log files and other data, a new AFT file was sent to me. I loaded the new tune late last week and was able to put some miles on it over the weekend and on Monday. The performance was much improved over the previous AFT file. The sporadic shifting is gone, even while using cruise-control. I noticed the FJ did a much better job of maintaining speed over the mountain passes without constantly shifting. This was my main expectation for the tune.
While the changes are small, I am pleased with the Raptor tune. And totally blown-away by their great customer service.
I'm getting 13.5 to 14 average. What am I doing wrong haha. I do have a 3in lift with 285s. If I'm towing my boat. Just go ahead and drop to 10.my mileage has improved too. The average for my trip to Colorado was 18.2 mpg, including trails, highway driving 75-80mph, everything For 4,682 miles. Previous average was 16.8, so much improved!
