So the times come to purchase skids - especially since Black Friday deals are around the corner.

I’m debating between Budbuilt & RCI currently. I know with Budbuilt the Expedition One bumper filler plate that covers the space between the bottom of the bumper and the cross member the front skid connects to won’t fit correctly and Budbuilt makes their own filler plate for Expedition One bumpers. I cannot find a definitive answer on if the filler plate from Expedition One works with RCI skids without having to grind the front lip of the RCI skid down.

I’ve spoken with a rep from RCI and was told they have customers running Exp1 bumpers, with the filler plate & their skids - but didn’t seem to know much past that.

Is there anyone with an Exp 1 bumper/filler plate & RCI skids that can comment on if it all works together as is - or if you had to modify the RCI skid and if so to what extent?

Thread necro after over a year, I know... OTOH both posters are still active on the forum so I have hope.

Recently ordered a complete RCI skid set. I had been planning on Demello bumpers but am now drifting towards Expedition One. Was this question ever definitively answered?

Sorry for the delay, I haven’t been on the forum for a little bit. The filler plate that came with my Exp1 bumper worked great with my RCI skids - looks and functions like it was all meant to go together. The filler plate should be included with your Exp 1 bumper purchase so you shouldn’t need to buy anything else, as least that was the case for me.

The picture below shows them installed with the Exp1 filler plate.

I would recommend Exp1, it was an easy choice for me as they’re like an hour away so I didn’t have to pay for or wait for shipping and I have two friends with their bumpers on FJ’s so I got to see them before hand. I also wasn’t a huge fan of the “DO“ cut out on the Demello, however I think the Demello’s look incredible otherwise and from what I’ve seen are great quality. It sucks to wait for Exp1 lead times, but unless you’re getting a used bumper, or an ARB that kinda seems unavoidable.

Let me know if you have any other question.
