Read diff lock switch picture

Hi, I am negotiating over email with a dealer that has a FJ that I could buy. It is a 'base' Manual Transmission 2008 model that - he says - has a rear diff lock, but it does not seems so from the description he has sent to me.

Can somebody send me a picture of the dashboard that shows the rear diff lock switch, so that I can ask him to take a pic of the car he has available and see if this option is really there or not?

If it has the rear diff lock it should automatically have ATRAC right? (Manual transmission)

Hi Alessio,

The diff lock is a standard feature with the manual transmission, even on the base model. EDIT: it was stock on 2007s and an additional option on 2008s

All that is required to add ATRAC is the switch.....if the ATRAC switch is not already there.

I wish you were correct, it seems the 2008 version does not have the rear diff lock by default anymore

It does appear that the diff lock is an option on the 08s (sorry for the mis-information)

It seems the RR DIFF LOCK switch is there... what do you think? Yet I fail to find this feature in the "Toyota Invoice" document he has sent to me.

Well it's definitely there. Could the Rear Diff Lock be part of a package that is mentioned on the papers you have?

Dman I didn't know they took this out as standard for the 08 MTs. I got a 07 with exactly what I wanted and nothing more. No fancy door trims, no atrac button, and no fancy stereo.

Just had:
Rock rails
Locking rear diff standard (07 MT)
Wires for the Atrac
Towing package
Reverse sensors
Alarm system

That's what I really needed at a tad bit over 28k

I'm basing my statement that it appears that it is not standard based on the Toyota website only (maybe that's erroneous?).

Did he e-mail you a vahicle inquiry report? Post it up and I'll look it over.

I thought that is not the rear differential, but only refers to the central differential (MT is an AWD).

See also this message and the next.

I am still confused but anyway the presence of the button should make it clear the rear locking differential should be there.
