Currently, my SiriusXM antenna is installed in the dash and it works fine unless heading due north. When headed due north, it cuts out entirely.

Based on research in the forums, I gather this is due to interference from the roof rack itself. So, I am planning to move it to the roof, but I have a mesh roof rack.

Would it be OK on top of the roof rack? Mine has a big, flat area towards the front of the rack, so I am thinking of mounting it there, so it is above the rack and therefore, above the interference. Also, it sounds like the rack itself might act as a ground plane and help with reception.

Has anyone done this? Should it work?

I am also considering installing a Tram low-profile SiriusXM antenna (link below) to help. Has anyone used one before? Is it overkill?

Thanks!

Yeah, mine does not get the greatest reception... it's on the roof and likely gets interference from my ARB full sized roof rack as well.

I wonder as well if moving it to the top of the rack would be better.... hmmm.

That TRAM antenna looks good....

Overkill? Pffftt... I don't know the meaning of that word

I mounted mine on the roof and it works perfectly fine full signal.
Did the same with mine. I was going to put it underneath the air dam then realized I didn't care it's visible. :)
