Does anyone have a good source for a synthetic line snatch block/pulley? It must be designed not to pinch the synthetic fibers. Most places only have ones suitable for steel line.

I've got a 5/16" thick MasterPull line.

No offense, but as a climber, kayaker and off roader, I own the NRS pulleys listed and would never consider using them as a winch block. I guess I never thought about it, but you would want the block to be rated at least 3 times your line or winch rating, I would think. You might get by with those pulleys, but you might also convert them into a projectile. Try this:

I've used the standard warn snatchblock on my synth line a couple of times with no problems. I don't see why it has to be designed different. It works fine, just make sure it is a new one and not one that has ever been used with a steel line.

Ditto that big time. The NRS pulleys are no where near rated for the kind of loads you will be getting while using the winch. I also have the NRS pulleys; CMC and a very large assortment of rescue, not sport, grade equipment. I’ve seen carabineers snap and pulleys come apart and I would be running in the other direction if I came up on someone using one of those as a snatch pulley.

I guess searching the masterpull site would be obvious. I have had a hard time negotiating their site before. A friend sent me a link from their site for a suggested synth line and I tried to find it later using their navi buttons and it was nowhere to be found. Weirdness.

Thanks for the posts.

I run 3/8ths line
we did a recovery of a mid 70s caprice for a cleanup of BLM land this weekend
used my warn steel snatch block, no issues at all
here is the skinny, I use derlin rollers on my roller fairlead, and I bought the regular steel snatch block new, it has never been used with cable. Anyone who knows me knows my winch gets used, a lot, not just for getting guys out of jambs, but I do volunteer work with the forestry service in the local NF, and we do trail maintenece and it gets used a lot there. this weekend we had to winch a rusted hulk of a caprice up a 30 foot ravine and then tow it 3 miles to a place they could get a tow truck to pick it up. The 9000 pound rated winch was about to bog at points the pull was so hard. I have never had an issue with synth line, use a new snatch block that steel has never been run on and everything will be ok.
the preasure created by that pull was one of the hardest I have ever done, and the Warn Brand steel snatch block never injured the line one bit.

Any good snatch block designed for WINCHING that has a smoot primary surface ought to be fine. Just realize that a synth line is a synth line and youll be good. I dont think anyone has been selling a block just for synth yet...

Everything I've seen recommends that snatch blocks be rated for at least twice what your winch is rated for. The idea is that since you are doubling the pull rating of the winch and line by doubling it you need a snatch block capable of that full pull weight since it will take all the weight, not half. So for a 9000# winch you want 18000# blocks and for a 12000# winch you want 24000# blocks.
