Just so everyone is on the right page, because it confused the hell outta me when I was looking at them all:

883 = front 'leveling' spring
884 = front "light" spring
885 = front "medium" spring
886 = front "heavy" spring

895 = rear "medium" spring
895E = rear "medium" spring 1.5inch
896 = rear "heavy" spring

Some places have them labeled differently, so pay attention to the NUMBERS when you're buying, not the light/med/heavy label.

I just put the 885/895's ("mediums") with OME shocks on and it's WAY stiffer than the factory setup. I thought it rode like a tractor. It has settled a bit, but it's way more firm. You can take a ride in my FJ if you wanna feel it, you might not like it because of your back Roger.

Forrest: same goes for you if you'd like to see what my mediums feel like, they're a huge change. Our bumpers weigh about the same, I'd suggest thinking about the mediums...

I haven't talked to ARB about this in some time, but fairly early on they began dis-recommending 886s even with the ARB due to issues (or at least perceived liability) with premature CV wear. I also seem to recall they went so far as to start referring to 885s as "heavy". Of course one could always get 886s directly.

x2 Metal Tech will confirm this for you, and I think others are moving that way too. The "heavies" are really only if you plan to put an almost ridiculous amount of weight on your rig.

hehe, it works for you Brian. If you have that much weight, it's actually pretty nice there is a spring out there than can handle it.

I read somewhere that the 886's were originally designed for the Prado's? That would make sense, at least to me, as they have a little more body to them and the same suspension... they might need the extra load bearing springs from the get go. I can't find where I read that, so it's complete speculation on my part at this point.

Good to know about the ABS in the rear, I was almost thinking mine was too stiff, but I haven't had anything beeping at me yet. Kinda makes me feel better.

Let me know when, I'll help if I can. Having a 2nd person makes positioning the bumper (especially one that heavy) a lot easier. It's pretty straight forward otherwise.

So I've went with the warn bumper and M8000 winch, want to keep the original plane of vehicle and I'm not interested in lifting her up. I do some moderate wheeling at times (no rock crawling/mostly mud and snow), but most of my driving is over pavement and I use it as my daily transportation. I've ordered the 884 = front "light" spring and the
895E = rear "medium" spring 1.5inch. Did I get the formula correct?
