Hey Everyone. My name is Adam. I recently moved back to my hometown of Driggs, Idaho. I grew up working at my family's fly fishing lodge and guided through college. I now work from home as a consultant. Plenty of time to fish and work on the FJ.

I have had my 07 6MT FJ for about a year and a half. I have been a member here for a little over a month. I have finally put together enough pictures to start my thread. Thank you to everyone on here for your posts and all the info. This is an amazing resource.

It started with blacking out the grill

Then the Mirrors

Old Turn Signals

New Turn Signals

My storage box. I think it turned out pretty good for my first ever carpentry project.

May in Idaho = Mud Season. I live on a dirt road, can you tell. This is when I had Nitto Terra Grapplers. Didn't like them.

My New Cooper Discoverer STT 285/70R17. Pick up spare in 2 days.

New Coopers

Door Handle Before

Door Handle After

After Door Handle Blackout. Had to stop for a trip to Moab.

Rear Before Blackout

After Bumper Blackout, Taillight Tint, Tail Light Guard, Red Emblems

After some small touches and home done tint job. I think the tint turned out really good for a first try in my garage.

Idea sketches for a RTT I am going to build using a Ford Ranger bed cover I have had for years as a top. I think it should be very cool and can build with stuff I have now. I am thinking dense foam core wrapped in fiberglass like the drift boats my family builds. Very strong and light weight. The Ranger truck bed cover is fiberglass painted black so it should be nice. I am talking to a local tent company about sewing up the tent parts for me. Pics to come.

Future Mods:
Home Made CO2 kit. (working on now)
Body Wrap
Wheel Blackout
3" lift kit, thinking icon (anyone selling kit?)

looks gnarly
looks awesome, how do you like the new turn signals?? I was thinking about getting a pair, are they brighter than the factory ones?

I like them. They said they were LED on ebay but I should have known better for the price. They came with orange bulbs to replace the oem clear ones but I left the clear ones in to be brighter. They are brighter than factory because the plastic is clear instead of orange. I will put up some night shots on here.
congrats looking great

VERY nice storage box!! :bigthumb:

And, the rest of your truck is pretty damn sharp, too.

Thanks Steve! That means a lot coming from you. Thank you for all your great tutorials. Your box helped me a lot. Also all your body panel removal instructions. I used them to install my 6x9 speakers in my door and "red out" some of my interior parts. Pics to come.

Also, I just ordered new Rough Country Performance 2.2 shocks. Online they only had them in kits but I called in and they hooked me up. Pics to come.

A couple teaser pics. More to come after completion/install.

Roof top tent under construction.

:wave:UPDATE 8-24-10

I have made some changes and finished some projects since my last post of pics on here. Sorry to edit this old post but I wanted to keep these on my first page and didn't think of making multiple posts to start.:mecry:

Here are some pics of some Avery vinyl side skirt decals I got on ebay for $1.00 from a guy in Ukraine. I think they look pretty good. I wish the red was a bit darker but who can complain for that price. I also think they will look better when I wrap my roof.

MY VERSION OF THE RTT

Here is my version of the RTT. Still needs some clean up work but not much. I have slept in it 2 nights and I love it! I thought it would affect my suspension in turns but I didn't notice it at all. I was able to build this for under $200 using a lot of stuff I already had.

I started by building an add on to my rack that I could use to support my RTT. It will come in handy for many things. I built it using the handy rack brackets available on ebay. I love these things. :rocker:

I used a fiberglass truck bed cover from a late 90's Ford Ranger that my brother used to have as the top. I attached it to a box i built and wrapped it in tent canvas and some screen for the doors I picked up at a local army surplus store.

I used two of these ratcheting cargo bars as tent poles. They work great and let my crank the canvas tight. I used one of these on each side to hold the top up. They work great.

There is some good stuff around here. I had never been on any of it really before buying the FJ except in the winter on snow machines. I usually go by myself so no one to take pics but here are some stills taken from video from the cam I mount on my light bar from the trail.

Did you put on the new shocks? Are the first few pics (with the Coopers) with the original suspension? Looks like you leveled it. Sweet ride!
Sweeeeeeeeeet roof top tent, awesome ingenuity!

I still haven't installed them. Too busy with other projects.

I have a lot of weight in the back in the pics. My old Terra Grapplers and my storage box made it look a bit lower.

Thanks for the compliment.

Thanks man! I love it. I am up to 7 nights in it so far. It is starting to get cold here, snowed last night, so I am excited to see how it is in the winter.
cool rig. i just ordered that same exact bumper. how you like it? pain in the ass to put on or what?
Sorry it took me so long to respond. I love the bumper. It wasn't a bad install. I don't have anything to compare it to though. It was my first and hopefully my last time doing it. Hope your install went good and you like yours as much as I like mine.
