I've installed fog lights and currently have them wired to the on position whenever the console button is depressed. Went snowboarding left the fogs on (LED) was still able to start the FJ 8 hours later, but now I'm thinking of doing an add a circuit.

Here is where it gets tricky if not impossible.

I would like to be able to turn the fogs on without lights, but have the fogs turn off with lights timer if I ever leave them on again.

I found the L=When lights are on in the interior fuse box (driver side) but I don't think that will accomplish what I'm trying to do.

Anyone have any ideas, or know how?

Thanks.

Scandal - it sounds like you want TWO different control schemes ...

1. Fog lights can be turned on and off using a panel-mounted rocker switch regardless of whether headlights are on or off. This is easy to do with a relay, picking up B+ from any permanently-hot B+ source.

2. (If I understand correctly) fog lights automatically turn OFF by a timing system. Are you asking for the fog lights to be controlled by the existing headlight timer, or by some independent timer that is 'triggered' when the ignition is shut off?

If you are asking for an independent timer, this can be done using a pair of relays, with one of them being an adjustable time-delay-on-release relay, like this 12V Hella part:

Thanks, I currently have them wired permanently hot. I'd like to have them turn off with the headlight timer. I'm hoping the headlight timer is separate from having the headlights on as I want to be able to turn fog lights on singularly.

If that isn't possible, I'll take a look at the relay you suggested.

Appreciate the response.

Can't you just add them to a circuit that is on only when key is on the on position? That way you can control them independently of anything else but will turn off as soon as you turn your car off. That's how I had mine wired in
I do have the add a circuit for just that type of setup, but then thought if I could have them turn off with headlight timer...
