I've noticed my transmission or transfer is thumping when stopping from a slow speed or letting off the acceleration during a slow takeoff (at the green light and need to let off the gas to pace slower traffic). Anyone else experience this or know the root of this situation? I have 205k miles and flushed the transmission at 200K. Thanks in advanced!

The first thing I would do is check any/all transmission and motor mounts. Doesn't take much play to cause a 'thunk' under those conditions.

Look for the white thumbtacks at the top of every section. They're called STICKY threads.

Before I ran out of grease, I was able to get both the rear and front splines filled and that addressed it. Now to get more grease for the joints. Thanks FJers!
