I picked up my FJ (2007 + used) in November of last year and immediately installed winter tires (Nokian Hakka 5) on the OEM alloy rims. This was more of a logistical choice and would have rather put the winter tires on black steel rims. Now that spring has finally arrived, I need to make a decision on new tires and rims. Basically I see driving 50% of the time on surfaced roads, 25% of the time on rural and logging roads and hopefully 25% of the time on true off road conditions. I really don't have the room to have several rim and tire combinations and will have to make a compromise decision. Any suggestions? I could put the winter tires on steel rims and replace the OEM tires using the OEM rims or keep the winter tires on the OEM rims and go for a different tire/rim combination for non-winter use.
