Looking at some options with both wheels and tires. I use this for daily driving and towing a snowmobile--so road and ice performance tires are best. I want to know tire weights in order to find an application which fits my needs yet is lighter for decent acceleration/MPG benefits.

Thanks.

For a reference point stock wheel/tire (17" alloys) weighs 76 pounds, I just tried to ship one two days ago.

Steelies......waaaay heavy!!! But they look cool.

The "unsprung" weight difference you need to be concerned with is the wheel...Not so much the tire.

Difference in specific tire weights would be negligible(give or take 5lbs) until you get into deep lug mud tires (that suck in snow and slush). You are looking for a designated winter tire or a good AT. I have had luck with the Toyo AT but I find myself admiring the GY Duratrac too.... Cooper makes winters with a good reputation too.
