Do you guys know if any of the years comes with blacked out emblem? Or they are all painted ? I would like to purchase an already blacked out OEM one since my fj is getting painted. Screen shot this pic off eBay for reference

I bought mine ( black emblems) from eBay. Yes …. Use a heat gun to heat emblem and area. Then use something that is plastic to lift emblem. Don’t use a screw driver or you could chip your paint. Recently noticed they sell a overlay as well. I would replace emblem or do as DataJockeys said remove them and not replace. I did that on my Chevy duramax when it was new. I liked the clean look for that truck.

Are you repainting the same color (which is?) or something different? I've often thought about repainting my '08 Sandstorm- even after almost 4 years it just hasn't grown on me. Something a little darker than the later years Quicksand would be neat, or maybe a dark, soft turquoise/teal, and black out all the trim...

FJ Cruiser Decals

I have a 2013 Trail Team cement grey with red accents. I wanted an additional pop on the front and back of my vehicle to go along with the red TRD lettering on my lower skid plate. I decided to change the silver Toyota lettering to red in the front grill of my FJ. I searched and found a company who does custom vinyl decals for the FJ and other vehicles. The company is tvdvinyldecals.com. The cost for the front was about $15.00 and there are about 36 colors to choose from. The company provides instructions. I cleaned with alcohol and used a q-tip. The company seems reputable and they even send you an extra letter to practice with in the event you make a mistake. My thought was even if I put it on and do not like it I should be able to take it off without causing any damage and only spend $15.00 on the front and $15.00 on the back.
You can also add the decals in other areas of your FJ. I was very happy and it only took me about 20 minutes. Here are some before during and after pictures. I did the rear lettering as well. They do not have an option to change the emblem. I get a lot of comments on the lettering.
Regards

I was just looking at that company last week! I just wondered if the “Signal Yellow” was a close enough match for my OCD 🤣

Was the red as pictured close to what you expected?

I wasn’t sure what color red to pick so I reached out to the company and ask for their recommendation. I was more than happy. I live in Florida and I haven’t noticed any significant color fading.

Ya, that company is great, very responsive via email. Great product. I've had mine on around 7 months now and they still look brand new. They're also happy to provide multiple colors for each section of lettering, in case you want to personalize things a bit more.

I wanted to go with Toyota Lunar Rock for the repaint, but the shops I visited all 3 didn’t want to do any color changes bc they are all backed up with work and “too busy” to repaint all the door jams, trunks area and engine bay/radiator support area would have been too much work. So I end up going back with factory iceberg white. I also offered to remove all the blacken out parts so it would be a smoother transition.

bumpers, mirrors, door handles, moldings all was removed at home.
