Hello again,

So as some of you know I picked up my 2014 MT Iceburg FJC "Betty"about a week ago. I have decided to call her Betty White for a few reasons apart from the obvious. One being no matter how dirty and old she gets, she will always make me smile!

I wanted this build to emphasis on a few key things for me.
1. Solid Daily Driver
-Simply put I plan on having this as my main mode of transportation aside from my motorcycles.

2.I want something to be ready for whatever the world throws at it
-I have seen 1st hand what these things are capable of which is a big part of me getting it. This will be the main focus of this build.

3.I want my son to experience the passion I share for trucks and where they can bring you.
-Growing up I have always chosen to get off the beaten path and figure it out as I go, this truck will make that much easier.

4.Gotta keep it classy, no point in calling her Betty if I am going to turn her into some beat heap using backyard butchers doing all the work. Doing everything myself or using professional shops.

To make things laid out here is a overall list of what I am planning on doing. This list will be edited as often as possible and pictures posted as often as well. (yes Ill try for before and after).

PLEASE, Let me know if you find a deal on one of the items below. $16k is a bit to spend, trying to dampen the blow to my wallet and head.

So first thing on my list to cross off

TRD Quick Shifter.

Quick and easy install, all in all about 40 mins. Driving it before felt too much like I was driving a 18-Wheeler. Now shifting is alot more manageable, however I need to start going to the Gym just so I can get it in reverse. Id say its easier spreading a Nun's legs

Looks good! I'm around the SF area as well, hope to see you around. I did my BMC with a NorCal FJ member, took us a couple hours to sawsall the mounts but it was a lot cheaper than going elsewhere!

Congrats on your purchase

I've been looking in my area for a 6 speed iceberg... They are hard to find.

They are good trucks and will last a long time if taken care of. I have one now and the only thing I would want to replace it with is another one in the color I wanted but wasn't made at the time... White

Congrats and welcome!

I'd scratch the nerf bars. You are building a trail capable rig. The nerf bars won't cut it!

Lots of good quality rock rails available from many vendors.

cheers,

dale

I was thinking the same thing "body mount" concerned me. Spending the extra $$ for some Bud built sliders, thanks for the info mang!

Figured it had to be done. Still shocked how long this took doing it at 11pm at night with no lighting. Dropped the pinhead sized nuts into the Bumper Well at least 3 or 4 times. But well worth it.

So since I am to broke to afford any other mods on the list I decided to swing by home depot and give plasti dip a try.

FJ 1.jpg

Went just fine getting the grill off, maybe 5 mins all and all.

FJ 2.jpg

Once that was off time for the prep, I decided black out the whole thing and white out the "Toyota"....

FJ 3.jpg

Masked up and painted the white

FJ 4.jpg

4-5 coats on the lettering, the taped them up for the rest of the black on the grill

FJ 5.jpg

And after everything got done heres where things got bad...and good

Almost instantly things started to peel when I took the mask off.

SO I decided to take drastic measures and do something I have not seen yet. FJ 8.jpg

After I peeled all the crap off I went and taped up the grill for round 2

FJ 9.jpg

Then painted again

FJ 14.jpg

Rained about 3 hours after I put the grill back on, took it on the freeway, not a inch of peel.
