Need a little help here. I bought this FJ used and there are two open holes in the headliner above the rear seat, one on each side toward the center of the headliner. The holes are uncovered, but it looks like there was a plug or clip that had been removed. Beneath the holes it looks like a corresponding hole in the sheet metal--I presume these holes go through a support beam that holds the headliner in place.

Do any of you have the same holes in that location? If so, are there trim plugs inserted? Color? Part number?

Thanks.

I don't have a part number for you, but after spending too much intimate time with my headliner recently, those are little thumb clips that pop in. They must have pulled it down and broken the clips. Look in the back near either side and you'll see similar little round clips.

Thanks much for the reply. I called the local Toyota dealer and I'm not sure they identified the right part. They first tried to tell me speakers go where the holes are. I know this is incorrect as the FJ has exciter speakers up inside the headliner that use the headliner as an acoustic component to create a surround sound effect (albeit not very well). These holes are clearly not associated in any way with those speakers. I called a different dealership and they told me they were plugs and quoted me a price of $14.00 a piece. Are you kidding me? For a plastic plug? This seemed high, even for a Toyota part which lead me to conclude they still weren't identifying the right part. After some research, I ended up ordering two Toyota P/N 90467-05164-B0 grey headliner clips for $0.95 cents each. It doesn't specify they are for an FJ, but it seems to me there should be some universality with Toyota stuff--at least that's my hope.

They come in tomorrow, so I'll know then if they fit in the existing holes.

Outstanding! If only I had shopped around--I could have saved 0.33 cents each :)

Not to beat up on them, but it amazes me how far off the Toyota parts guys were on this one. By-and large, they've been pretty good in my experience. Of course, the proof is in the pudding, so I'll know for sure when I install them.

Best to you, MattM

Update: Fitment and color were exactly correct. I'm still scratching my head as to why three different Toyota dealerships could not identify the right part, but it doesn't matter at this point.
