Put up my Valentine 1 in the windshield; the angle makes it tough to get a good mount.

My rear laser sensor goes off constantly while the car is running. Even in the garage.

Has anyone had this problem; I am considering turning off the Laser sensor which will not be the best move?

Thanks.

Philip.

Do you have rear sonar & is it turned on?

Yes I have the Sonar; I know can interfere. And it is on. I thought it only came on when in reverse; I will try without the Sonar.

Thanks.

My V1 works fine in my FJ - no laser falsing. I have the rear bumper radar on as well and it doesn't affect it (at least when not in reverse). I just wish there was a power source up by the rear view mirror.

I turned the Sonar off and still have the Laser Falsing.

I have a booster seat with a silvery cover on it that may be causing a problem. I put that in the same day the the V1.

I am going to take the seat out a see what happens.

I hard wired mine and have no problems either with the rear sensors or sonar.
Hey 361,
Can you get us pictures of how you hard wired the V1. I was thinking of running power off the center gauge cluster. Did you do this or run from under the dash? How did you run the wires?

I was concerned about running a power wore up the "A" pillar due to my side airbags, But would like to mount so I did not have to take it down every time I stopped. I really wish there was a accessory power wire at the rearview mirror.

You guys didn't use the standard V1 windshield mount I'm assuming? The thing points at the ceiling! I still haven't figured out where to mount mine cleanly... so it's sitting in the bedroom.

Luckily for me, the FJ doesn't get past 70 NEARLY as easy as the TL does ;)

I looked around for every possible spot I could find for the V1 and finally hardwired it and hooked it to the drivers side visor. But, it still pointed down until I put my DVD storage thingy on there and now it points straight out. No wires, no mess..... I'll try and get pics later.

Radar Detectors do nothing but frustrate me. I have used and reviewed over 50 units and while some detect signal better than others, most are crap. The new units can detect up to 12 bands of radar and ladar and schmodar and blowdar and pop and snap and crackle but most of them throw so many false detections that they keep you in a false sense of security behind the wheel. Also, with the new units detecting POP, the problem here is that POP is an instant radar detection which means when it reads on your detector, you are being POPed and if you are speeding you are caught.

If you are being poped, then yes it may be too late. I was able to reduce my speed by 15mph, saved me alot of $$, plus I don't think things would had worked out well getting tagged a 100mph. On a busy road, it's not likely you are going to be poped, the detector will detect the gun going off down the road, when the officer shoots someone else, thus giving you all the advanced notice you need. I agree many detectors are crap, I bought an Escort 8500 X50, $~300, but worth every penny, has saved me many potential fines. But as stated above when you are doing 100mph at 1:00am and the only car on the road, it is not going to due a whole lot with a pop gun.

Used the regular V1 mount on the windshield with the suction cups but let it go all the way to the end of the adjustment. This allows it to direct forward and get a view of the back. I used the dash to plug it in.

If laser is the main concern add a K40 laser defuser, they deactivate the laser signal by sending out a return pulse signal at the same frequency as the police laser. Come as a license plate frame, but can be removed from that and flush mounted. Retail at $300.00.Cost is $150.00 should be able to get one for close to that. Have installed many of them with other detectors they work. Part # LD-5500
