So Ive never really been a fan of wind guards, but Ive also never owned one, I just never really saw the point. but when I got my FJ one of the biggest problems Ive had is gettin blown around in the wind tunnel w the windows cracked even a lil bit. And I thought Id just have to deal with this problem. But then my buddy ordered a set of the Wade wind gaurds off ebay and they accidently sent him two sets... $10 later they were on my FJ. unbelievably simple install, they are just the kind that stick on w 3m tape. they look sweet and I gotta say I love em. 2day is the second day theyve been on and it was rainin like a mofo so as a test I rolled the window down while goin 45... not a drop on me or in the truck. and the first day I went about 50 w the windows totally down and it was like bein in a totally different car. I gotta say (especially for the price, usually they are about $40 shipped) it was totally worth it and I would recommend em to anyone. Oh and my dog loves em too!!

Post up some pics, or links to where some might be.

I might be interested in some of these, but gotta see what they look like first...
Agree...once you install these - you'll never figure out how you survived without them!

Are they translucent, or opaque black plastic?
Interesting.. I hate that I can't drive the FJ with the window down. I drove with my window down in my Jeeps forever, but the first time I tried it with the FJ it was like "what's up with that". Ron

I have only seen black/smoke colored plastic...
Mine are AVS but pretty much exactly the same as far as i can tell.....I love them....under $40....10min install.....voila!!!!!

Only thing I have noticed is you should hear them thump when big spring time bugs start hittin' them at 65mph.....lol....
The Wade web site doesn't list the FJ. Which one's did you use? Ron

I got mine from www.OCParts.com, but they appear to be a little higher than $40 shipped. :mecry:
I've had the AVS brand for over a year and they are great, easy to install, but I strongly suggest you get the 'in-channel' type. Here in the ATL we are stuck with car washes till the drought lessens. I've been told that the stick on type won't last long in a car wash.
Got-ya.. Thanks Ron
PS: Any pics of your FJ with them. I'm trying to visualize how they will look from a distance (i.e. not as close as the Wade pic)

Sorry...I don't have any handy.
shop here in Charleston has both the WeatherTech and the VentShield in-channel models....both have smoke and dark. I went with WeatherTech in dark color.....just be sure to follow directions and let them cure with windows up for 24 hours before using...especially if it is raining or going to rain.

Make a huge difference in noise though. I was able to ride from Wash DC at 68mph with driver window all the way down and passenger 3/4 down with stereo at 38setting jamming to metallica and ac/dc on ride and not have a ringing in my ears from wind buffeting me to death.
The ones I got are called smoke but are really more like a dark tint look. I dont know about wade's site not listing them though. Here is the link to where my buddy got his (and no I dont know this ebayer or anything, just sharin info)

eBay Motors: Vent Visor Ventvisor Ventshade Toyota FJ Cruiser 07 08 (item 380030653434 end time May-30-08 11:51:58 PDT)

Ill try and remember to snap some pics of mine when its not rainin (has been for 2 days)
Does anyone have the part numbers on the ones that go all the way to the bottom of the window?

I see some stop short of the frotn part of the window, they are claled the "slim" ones.

I want the brand that goes all the way across the top of the window and then also goes down the front of the window.

I've searched and can't find decent pics of them.

I saw the Wade ones that go all the way down, but all I can find for sale are the "slim" brand that only go partially down the front. They don't seem like they'd deflect that blast of air coming off the mirror that we are trying to avoid.

Does anyone have a pic of the ones that go all the way down and can tell us what brand they bought or have a part number?
I had the 3m stick on ones for my Tacoma. They were on the truck about 7years and 200k miles. I mainly used the carwash and never had a problem with them not sticking. I never tried to take them off once they were on though so im not sure if it left a sticky goo mess. Im going with the in-channel though this time mainly just for preferences of looks. Cant wait to not have the wind tunnel and drips all down my door panel again!
i love my avs visors, they should have been stock equipment, with the stock windows, so much wind comes in and its annoying. Now with the visors, no excessive wind, and i can crack my windows in the rain! :bigthumb:

lol i thought this thread was about someone's visors turning into goo
I got the AVS in channel vents and love them, that was the 2nd mod for me, 1st was that horn. I get some wind noise with the window rolled all the way up, anyone else having this problem?
Do the AVS ones go all the way down the front of the window or do they stop halfway up like the Wade Slim ones?
