I want to wire some marine wakeboard boat speakers on the roof rack of my 2013 FJ for tailgating. I hqave the upgraded JBL supwoofer system and i was wondering if i could wire the marine speakers to the already installed amp that the JBL sub is hooked to? And if so where is that amp located in the FJ?!? Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated!

The sub amp only puts out bass. Therefore you will just have doof from the wakeboard speakers and nothing else. Plus the amp would probably overload anyway and kill itself.

Sure would look weird with boat speakers just sitting up there, that's for sure.

You'd have better luck and it would look better having a pair of speakers(like a pair of 6x9's) installed in the tailgate door with their own amp.

It will be a bit more involvedim terms of wiring, but you should be able to wire in a crossover to a set of speakers (like the doors) from behind the dash. Then run your exterior speakers from that. You can use the crossover to toggle them on and off or mix the levels however you like. Depending on what sound/volume you want, you may want an amplifier anyway, many of which have a built in crossover. If you hunt, you should be able to find one that is easily controllable. An equalizer may do the trick for you as well. Same kind of idea. I'm not really into the stereo world anymore, haven't been for a long time, so I'm not too familiar with the products that are out there. There's no reason you shouldn't be able to do this though.

Good luck!

Dude just save the money and go buy a Beats Pill XL. Friend of mine just bought one and let me tell you those things are the real deal for tailgating. For $300 you can take it anywhere you want, it's bluetooth so no need to AUX cords to play music and you can sit it on the roof rack and have the same thing you're looking for with the speakers. IMO it would save a lot of time trying to hook up and wire up speakers and also look very clean.

Here is the link to bestbuy

Even just an amp would probably work for you if you if you wired in a switch. That would be pretty simple. I'm sure you could bring this set-up in for under 3 bills, plus you'd have something you could be proud of and a little different (maybe?). It's not my thing either, but if it's yours then go for it.

Have fun with it!
