Today I replaced the main printed circuit board (PCB) in the ScanGauge II in the FJ.
Gifford Automotive, who distribute ScanGauge products in Canada, offers replacement PCBs with the latest firmware for sale. Mine had an old firmware (4.06), and I wanted to be able to read out the TPMS pressures and temperatures which requires later firmware. Getting a new PCB was a lot easier than mailing my whole Scangauge to California for the upgrade. It now has version 4.53 so I should be able to get it to read TPMS by adding the appropriate X-Gauge commands.
Here is a useful X-Gauge that works with my 2013 FJ.
Fuel level as the actual reading from the tank sender in 0.5L increments:
Code:
Gauge: FLV
TXD: 07C02129
RXF: 046145290000
RXD: 2808
MTH: 01F4000A0000 (for liters)
MTH: 052900640000 (US gallons)
MTH: 000100010000 (%)
This updates quickly and even shows the sloshing and is affected by vehicle angle. Above 67.5L remaining, the display shows 67.5L until you get below that. This corresponds to the amount of fuel remaining when the dash fuel gauge starts to move down from 'F'.
This gives a real sender read rather than the fuel remaining countdown based on the last fillup of the standard fuel remaining display of the Scanguage which just subtracts the running usage from the full tank amount. FLV is useful if you only partially filled up, or overfilled the tank, or forget to reset after a fill, or your fill-up calibration isn't correct yet, etc.
