@Radobudadado fantastic looking rig! Hope you didn't have to use the shovel on the snow. The truck looks very capable and rugged. Nice wheel and tire package.
Thank you! No shovel needed on this run... I did have to tug out the Subaru that was in front of me on the trail though. 🤣

Thanks! I’m trying to decide what tires to purchase. It has stock sized 265/70/17 now. I like the factory optional BBS wheels, so I’m not sure what the best option for a tire would be. I’m actually thinking about 32” instead of 33”, but tire manufacturers don’t seem to have as many options in that size. Or tire retailers don’t offer many that size.

Thanks to a write-up I found here I disabled the Daytime Running Lights so my new ridiculously-bright LED retrofit wasn't burning full power all the time. Since I have swamp ogre-sized hands I had to completely remove the resistor to get it done but it worked beautifully. No DRLs here. I mean, if you can't see that big bright red FJ I don't think some little headlights are going to help you much anyway.

Now I won't forget to turn my headlights on when it starts to get dark.

Had to drop my LRA auxiliary fuel tank to replace my evap canister that is located above the auxiliary tank…. So I figured I might as well begin the install of the Expedition One bumper I’ve had setting around for almost 2 years. Kinda embarrassing it’s taken me this long to get to but have had a lot of other more pressing projects on the house I’ve been doing than another mod to my recreation vehicle… At least that’s what my wife told me.😂

I recently moved and now in an apartment complex. Since I don’t drive much, I needed a battery charging solution as I can’t use my Ctek charger as much as I’d like. I can use it on weekends though.

So, I got a 30W solar panel and controller combo. Amazon.com

It holds in place with just the windshield sun shade. I might buy some magnetic suction cups to make it a bit more secure.

I bought a CB radio female power plug and cut off the cloths line clip style battery terminal connectors that came with the kit and soldered on the CB connector as I already have wiring run for my CB that connects directly to the battery.

I set it up on an overcast day and happy it was able to work. It's showing 12.5v in the pic so, not too bad for an overcast day.

So far so good. It’s keeping it fully charged and the charger goes into a pulse maintenance mode once fully charged.

I also figured a way to keep the panel in place by placing a bottle of Stabil 360 (that i always have and use at every fill up) between it and the dash instrument cluster.

It's a suction cup. Can order through Amazon. Best Buy has them as well. I have one from GoPro and an off brand one I got on Amazon. The GoPro one is more expensive but is better quality. Here is a link to various ones: Amazon.com : GoPro suction mount

If you get one, make sure you clean the surface of your vehicle so it will get good suction on the paint, otherwise it will fall off. I had these on at 75 MPH and never fell off (though I don't recommend doing that). ;)

You can also get a roll bar clamp, look at my roof rack and you can see on top. That worked really well too, though it provides an odd angle of your roof line if you want a front view from up there. I'd use for stuff off the side.

So... Just as I got back to posting and updating this happens
Whie driving I felt the FJ pulling hard to the left, I stopped at the side and lots of smoke came from the front driver side wheel...
Yep, u guessed it... Front caliper seized tight 😫
Been doing lots of trips in mud and water lately, not a real fan but it what we got lately here... always washed after but still
Both of them are in bad shape.

Gonna have to go back to the original Calipers for now, clean and give as much maintenance as possible to see if I can save them without having the risk of it happening again.
And if not, well, new ones or just keep the originals.
Looks like good time for new rotors as well.

And to wash much better in the future right after arriving back. (gotta pay for mistakes)

The Yucatán weather and saltiness doesn't do well to the metal parts, but I didn't think to that level.

Are those OEM Toyota calipers or another brand? How long did they last? Seems odd that the inside of the piston is corroded… how does anything get in there? Isn’t it sealed by the pad?
