My bet is aftermarket sonar. That way you can tell where the fish are when you take your FJ out on the water.

Maestro Rr and Rr2 stereo interface does, and I'd guess to provide whatever iDatalink-compatible headunit with additional info for gauges, etc. I'm not running one, so don't know more than that, but I'm waiting on the Rr2 to come back in stock so that I can use its three programmable outputs with my steering wheel controls and front lighting.

You’re gonna have to try harder than that if you want an answer…nobody can know what that is unless you see where it goes, it’s something aftermarket so it really has nothing to do with being an FJ. It could be absolutely anything. Maybe try a car stereo shop if you can’t figure it out yourself.

My FJ has this kind of multimedia but it doesn’t show any data related to car engine.

Thank you for the suggestion but that could be my last option. Actually I am the first owner and I didn’t install any thing from after market. This FJ is VXR with rear sonar and blind spot detection may be it is used by them.

Well I guess your other option is to disconnect it and see if your rear sonar etc still works. If you are the first owner the dealership you purchased from should be able to tell you.

What's the wire running across the console and towards the glove compartment in the picture above? Unrelated or just a phone charger or something?

In the US, we have car insurance companies wanting to plug things in to the OBD2 so that they can sell your information and reduce your insurance rates. Usually those aren't wired units though.

What ZerosFJ said. Unplug it and see if you can figure out what no longer works. It won't disable your FJ doing that. If all the the stereo functions still work, I'd leave it unplugged until you can trace the cable.

What is the factory plug connected to OBD-II?

My 2019 Sorento has a plug (with a black and red wire) plugged into the OBD-II. In order to attach an Allstate Mile-Wise device, this plug must be disconnected. Does anyone know what this plug is for and what functions may be lost by disconnecting it?

I finally got a Bluetooth OBD2 adapter. Today, I went to plug it in, and there is something already plugged into my OBD port. See photo. Can someone tell me what this is? Does it need to be plugged in? If so, then I really can't drive around with the Bluetooth adapter installed instead...

Hunting for dealer-installed GPS tracker

So I just picked up our custom-ordered 2020 Transit 150 XLT from the dealership the other day. It's a gorgeous vehicle! Unfortunately, even though it was a custom order and the dealership knew it would never be "on the lot," they still installed a third-party "Kahu" GPS tracker by a company...

I think that's likely BS.

I am quite certain that there is no capability to command throttle position (and over-ride driver control) through the OBD interface.

Ask your dealer for specific information on the manufacturer and model of this aftermarket 'safety' device, and for a copy of the User's Manual.

There are rear-collision avoidance systems available, but they are enabled when a driver is backing up, and they detect vehicles that are in motion and may pass behind the vehicle that is backing up.
