I'm just back from "Abenteuer & Allrad" (Adventure and all-wheel-drive) in Germany and saw quite a few FJ Cruisers, both exhibited, for sale, and driven by people attending the event. I spoke with one of the European importers, called Extrem (extremfahrzeuge.com). They said they alone have sold something like 100 FJ's in Germany by now. Here are a few of the things they are adding to the FJ to sell it in Germany:

- 140 litre auxiliary tank (37 gallons)
- Permanent 4x4 in the Automatic version (2,490 euro)
- Kenwood double-DIN navigation/DVD/Radio built in (2,041 euro)
- Panorama double sunroof (1,790 euro)
- Rebuild of the car to use LPG (fluid gas fuel) (3,200 euro)
- Leather seats front with seat heater (1,990 euro)

As a sidenote, the prices are ridiculous if you convert them into dollars due to the low value of the dollar (and some of the vendors must be making nice profits). Using todays exchange rates, I saw a
- Warn 9.5si winch on sale for $2,873 (1,420 in the US = 49% of the price)
- Optima Yellowtop34 on super sale for $277 (196 in the US = 70% of the price)
- VIAIR 440P compressor for $536 (260 in the US = 48% of the price)

Here's the auxiliary tank they are putting on, it adds 140 litres (37 gallons):

(they replace the inclinometer with a new fuel gauge)

Here's the sunroof:

That sunroof is kind of cool, but for California, it's going to get awful hot in the Summer.

I hope that is one tough gas tank, or they come out with some skids for it. It looks like it is likely to get smashed.
It's German. The whole tank is probably made out of skid plates.

are you sure it's a 37 gallon tank?! That's twice the capacity of the Prado sub tank which was designed for the exact same frame in the exact same location. Not only that, but you're looking at around 250 extra lbs. with the additional fuel. That's sick weight and the only vehicles I know of that carry around that much fuel in a similar vehicle class are Defender type expedition vehicles that cross the Sahara. And they're diesels.
