Went to the store to get some meat, ended up in the woods finally being able to use this basket for more than ice chests and gas cans.

Took advantage of being up in Monterrey for an extended holiday visit to visit La Huasteca with the FJ. It's a world famous spot for mountain climbing due to its unique formations, and is also just a fun area to do some overlanding. We drove until the pavement ended, and I got to air down my new Geolanders for the first time. Very happy with their performance and glad to confirm that they'll be a great choice for the type of terrain we typically encounter. Drove for about an hour over rough rocky dirt roads and then found a dry creek bed to pull off and have a picnic.

Took a new route north of town today. Once again, thwarted by an unexpected closed gate blocking our path (via satellite imagery I was hoping to be able to explore a mountain pass further on). Still, found a nice hillside road on which to have a cookout. Everything tastes better when you're cooking in a remote spot thanks to your FJ!

First time out to Soda Lake Rd/166 and first time out with my front suspension since it was done. I'm not used to how easy it is to drive (fast). Not that bumpy but fun runs down the dirt highway. A little nice because there's greenery and flowers springing up due to all the rains.

Drove to Utah for skiing (Alta is at over 800", the most they've ever got in a single season) and Wyoming (ok snow, but couldn't hold a candle to Alta this year). It was 15F when leaving, topped out at 80F in Nebraska, and 65 when I got home back east.

Digging cars out of the parking lot in Alta, after 24 hours of interlodge, I got to use ATRAC and my rear diff lock (and low gear) pulling folks cars out of their snow holes (even after shoveling out the main snow, and even the ones on snowtires, most simply spun a wheel until given a pull).

The supercharger is a dream on the open road, able to pass anything, anytime, any gear. In past years got only 11~12mpg, but after having replaced the exhaust sensors, PCV and cleaned the MAF, and replaced a sticking (aftermarket) front caliper with new OEM, got respectable 15mpg day after day at 80mph.

The Aux tank is awesome. Being able to go 6 hours at a stint, with a 500 mile range, without care for how far the next town is anymore, was truly a revelation, for this truck.

The dash cam and interior insulation were also most appreciated, helping the Panasonic Navi stereo, and aftermarket speakers sound about as good as they could do.

Windshield got broken. Oddly, it didn't happen in Utah, Wyoming or Nebraska where rocks on the road (where they use mostly sand, rather than salt) made EVERY semi who pulled out to pass whatever they were going 1mph faster than (they only seem to pull out when you get to them) throw horribly loud stone impacts into the windshield (got some bullseyes), it wasn't until Illinois (the flyover states roads were very nicely clear of stones in the passing lane) when a rogue stone got thrown from an ordinary sedan, that broke the windshield real good (super loud).

There were so many bug splatters it wasn't even possible to see the crack until later, though. Some of those bugs made a heck of a lot of noise when they hit. The FJ sure isn't aerodynamic.

May need to move up the annual bath.
Also managed to smash the front license plate and at some point on the way home the hook fell off the winch.
