Hey, I have a Magellan 7" RoadMate 9055 with a Magellan Wireless License mount Back-Up Camera. I'm just not sure if the license area is the best place for the camera, it seems to me that the spare tire will block half of the view. I heard some people mounting it to the rear center bumper. Any suggestions ? Also, where is a good place to mount the GPS unit in the FJ?

Thanks

Why not on the top of the door- better vision that way. Otherwise the bumper would be the cleanest.

i mounted mine to the center of the spare, same place as the factory camera. I was going to mount mine to the top of the door like old cruiser suggested but there is not much room in there. I’m sure it could be done I just didn’t have the patience and wasn’t clever enough. if someone figures out how to put it there please post how you did it.

I mounted my camera in the center of the bumper, just above the hitch. Makes it easy to hook up a trailer. I too have a 7" Magellan GPS. I used a Panavise mount to mount it near the radio. I had to build a custom bracket to mate the two.

I hacked away the license plate bracket so the camera is just by itself and mounted it in the silver center piece ( i have the SE Toyota hitch (reese)) so it looks built in. The camera gives a full view of the trailer when you back up and the goof balls that feel the need to pull right up to you at stoplights. The one i had just fit between the fascia and the real bumper components.
